Superb Audio! Great Microphone!!! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.

Out of all the desk microphones that I've owned (Astatic D-104, Kenwood, MC-90, MC60, Icom SM6, Icom SM8, Yaesu MD100a8x, Yaesu MD-1, etc.), this is by far the best mike there is! Quality is great, audio is superb, and it's smaller than most of its counterparts. Great, more room for keyers and other mikes! The SM20 is as excellent for VOX operation, the best I've ever used. Right now I have it hooked up to my Icom IC-756 and that's a winning combination. The only slight drawback is the price. But it's worth it. "Got a five dollar signal? Get a five dollar mike." The bottom line is that you pay for what you get, and the only other mike that compares with this one is the Kenwood MC-90, and it is priced pretty much the same. If you have an Icom, this is the mike you need! You won't be disapointed!

Excellent Option Time Owned: unknown months.
I have used the Icom SM-20 with my Icom 746 and receive consistant, excellent reports from it.Beautiful styling and smooth operation. I do wish the price were reduced for the model, but by checking sources thay can be found at discounts.
Overall, I am very pleased.

A nice base station microphone Time Owned: unknown months.
Let's face it..all three of the 'TOP 3' manufacturers of ham equipment make great products..but their microphones have always been considered less desirable than their radios.
Not so, in my opinion, with the SM 20.
The design and craftmanship of the SM 20 is very good and I constantly receive good reports on audio..both on DX and ragchewing. The UP/DOWN controls for frequency scanning are something that I've never really used much but when I do it is convenient.

I like the way ICOM designed the mic. to minimize wires leading to the radio, too. Many other manufacturer microphones require coil wrapped around the base.

The SM 20 is a sleek looking, good performance microphone. The cost is it's only drawback but if you can find one used and in good shape I'd recommend it!
