Simply the best. Time Owned: unknown months.
I've had my 735 for about 10 years. I purchased it in an estate sale and had no idea what I got. It took the place of my ICOM 701, which I still have and by the way has the ONLY working NOISE BLANKER I've ever seen. I use my 735 daily on CW, full breakin and some weekends I use SSB. This radio has it all. I strongly recommend this radio to ANYONE looking for a reliable, economical and high performaning radio.

I miss my ICOM 735!!! Time Owned: unknown months.
I regret to say.. I sold my ICOM 735 about 6 months ago to buy some new equipment. To the new owner..wherever you are I hope you're loving it as much as I did! Now GIVE IT BACK!!!
Seriously though, the ICOM 735 was and is a great radio--extremely simple to use--very compact--nice diplay and very effective and surprisingly good notch/PBT filtering. The noise blanker was very good, too, as I recall.

This was my first real HF rig in ham radio (unless you consider a Heathkit SB 300/400 drifter transmitter/receiver a real radio) and worked the world on both CW/SSB. This was always a workhorse of a radio!

I'll admit I never fully understood the concept of the little door hiding some of the controls--how many of you ICOM 735 owners still have those doors? They're a rare find these days--not sure where ICOM was going with that idea--Also, the SWR switch being in the back was kind of silly but let's face it--these are little details! But the entire radio allowed the user to control the radio in a no-nonsense fashion.

Overall, great CW rig, very versatile and portable and never let me down once!

If you can find one in a good condition and good price, get one! Just don't outbid me on the current ebay auction.

73!

Ten years old IC-735 Time Owned: unknown months.
So I have read NX7U reflexion. My IC-735 is ten years old, it working very vell. There has been NO
problem with them. I win 302 DXCC countries and about 10.000 QSO, some contest last ten years.
That is all.

Outstanding General Purpose Rig Time Owned: unknown months.
I've had my IC-735 since '89 and have often figured I'd let it go as I have three other HF rigs, and I never do. (1) The size is just right. It was near-smallest available until the micro-rigs (FT100, IC706) came out. Easy to use base, portable, or mobile. (2) Pretty clean RX with good IM dynamic range (mine tests to >95dB, can't go lower due to equipment used). Have won my section in 10m and CQWW tests with it. (3) CW great, good 500 and 250Hz filters, QSK is for real, (4) jumper loop for RX ANT makes a separate RX ant (beverage for 80m) a breeze (no ext. T/R relay needed). My rig has taken a beating mobile, camping in the rain, contest expeditions, pampered base, you name it, it keeps right on ticking. I have repaired/replaced ZERO on this baby. Oh yeah, worked 290 DXCC with it too. I doubt you'll find many at that total with an "entry level" rig! I'm not going overboard with a 5 rating because performance certainly isn't Grade AA (no moni, my TS-850 RX better). PS no I *won't* sell it!
