What a beautiful amplifier! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have this amp for many years and it has never disappointed me so far. Of course it is not a power amp for continuous 24/7, but for the usual modes of DX operation (CW/SSB) quite excellent. The cooling should not be a problem then. The tube is occasionally still cheap as NOS on Ebay. This power amplifier is quite rare and only with good luck to get used. Be sure to install the protection diode for the meter on the power supply board, if not present.

Great machine Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've owned two in the last twenty years and I still have one. I love this machine, used often during field days, I was impressed how it was robust. I've worked inside and is made very well, good quality of components, mine pulls out 350W PeP with less than 10 in.

excelent amp Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This small baby is one of the best 2m amps that I ever had.
With 25 wats input power and 250-280 mA at 235 volt the out power is 400w pep in a bird watt meter.
The 4cx350f run in this amp at 1850v with 235 volts in power line.
Can the 4cx350f give mor than 400w??? Yes but not in this amp at 1850 volt of plate voltage, Is a nice protection because the tube with 2250v in other amps can give 600w...but no too long.
The tube run forever at 1850 in this amp.
Also have a monitoring temperatube over the tube with a sensor and over current protection.
I work with this amp in ssb, cw, contest and also EME.
I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM IN MORE THAN TWO YEARS AND I USED THIS AMP ALL DAYS.
Is small very quiet and also have a nice preamp inside the box.
Yes under my point of view the blower is small but have a great job.
If you run at 400w ssb the blower is ok.

Too Hot! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I was interested in playing with this to see how it compared with my own CCS1 amplifier, must admit I found it disappointing. Overheats and trips itself out on SSB at full output, the HT voltage offload is not really enough to do the 4CX350 justice and under load it sags quite a bit.
I added a tertiary winding to the transformer to enable it to run with a 4CX350B, this is helpful as they are more readily available than the 4CX350F. On balance it is a small handy amplifier and performs adequately if you treat it gently, probably good value if compared to alternative ways to run the same power on VHF.

4 Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Purchased a second hand NAG144XL with a orginal
4CX350F tube that seem to work just fine with
275W output CW/SSB.
The cooling is not adequate for FM use at full power so it's good policy to reduce the drive in FM mode.
You can buy the 4CX350F tube from USA if needed,

Good amp!

Excellent Amp - Review by M1EQN Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The NAIGAI NAG-144XL will deliver aprox' 250 Watts with about 12 Watts input. It even puts out an amazing 95 Watts with a mere 500mw input.im very happy with this amp as it is also a good match for my KENWOOD TS700 which i use the amp with. The amp itself has a 4CX350F valve which i believe are hard to get but if your lucky to find one expect to pay around £90 for one.If any one knows of any spare 4CX350F valves going spare please email me at m1eqn@btinternet.com
