I recently purchased this mic to add to my growing collection. The Heil Heritage utlizes a 3 pin xlr and does not require phantom power, as many professional mics do. Connected to a TS-2000 thru a Behringer Ultra-Voice Digital preamp & PreSonus EQ3B Parametric equalizer the sound quality was ok with a bit too much overall brightness. I adjusted the frequency response of the mic with a scope and pink noise generator. The results were ok but there was some moderate midrange peakiness I could not eliminate. Most large-diaphragm condenser mic's will outperform this mic, especailly using a decent preamp supplying phantom power. With the condenser you will get a smoother response curve, more volume and if you look hard a better price (my MXL V57M was only $69 and my high end B-2 Pro Condenser Microphone was only $149.00. Both these studio mics offer significantly better performance and lower price.

On the plus side the Heil is very well made & nicely styled. At $75 a fair buy, at $165 way over priced considering the weak frequency response characteristics.
