Reviews: 4MSRP: 12.99 plus shipping
Description:
If you own a Yaesu FT-817 you are well aware of the problems with
viewing the small display when the radio is laid flat. This great little QRP
rig is extremely popular among the QRP amateurs despite this problem.
With the ViewRig the radio is raised approximately 2.5 inches in
the front and puts the display at exactly the right angle. Made of
22ga sheet metal and finished in black, it is a nice accessory to your FT-
817. A padded platform protects your radio from scratches and a
vertical lip on the rear of the platform keeps it firmly in place.
Product is in production

GREAT PRODUCT GOOD PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
SUE IS VERY NICE TO TALK WITH AND WILL TRY HER BEST TO MAKE YOU HAPPY. I BOUGHT 2 OF THESE PERFECT SIZE TRANSCEIVER STANDS. THEY ARE BUILT LIKE A TANK AND HAVE A RUBBER FOAM ON TOP TO KEEP THE RIG STILL. I USE ONE FOR MY YAESU FT-817ND AND THE OTHER FOR MY ELECRAFT K1. THE K1 FITS GREAT AND YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER STAND MADE ANY BETTER FOR THE MONEY. THEY ALSO HAVE GREAT QSL CARDS AND WORK HARD TO MAKE YOU HAPPY WITH THE FINISHED PRODUCT. I CAN SEE THESE STANDS COMING WITH ME TO THE OUTERBANKS FOR MY SUMMER QRP FUN IN THE SAND. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT THE K1 AND THE 817 LOOK LIKE ON THESE STANDS JUST LOOK MY CALL UP ON QRZ. THE PICTURE IS THERE. THANKS SUE YOU ARE A DEAR. CHUCK PRIDGEN "N4UED"

Overkill but good Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I tried out a friends and thought its ok and it works superbly as the solution to the operating angle for desk ops. I later found something called "pegleg" from QRP Products which is imho a little better because the legs/feet don't distract from the rig and they can lock, fold in and out, etc., so you don't lose the portability. The legs are light weight and perfect for the 817. So the porta base is super but it has legit competitors

Now I can see!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.

As stated in the description and by the above gentleman, this thing works great. Describing it any further here is like describing a potato peeler.
Its simple, a nice color and best of all it tilts your qrp rig (it works on most, not just the 817) so you can actually see the front of it. The finish could be better (a little orange peel effect) but its acceptable for a 13 dollar ramp..
It arrived fast, had a nice soft foam rubber mat glued to it to protect your rig and rubber feet to protect your tables. MY 817 has the MP-1 antenna and mount on it and its perfectly happy on the base..
A great addition for sure.. I know its just a ramp, but it does what it says and is worthy of praise.. I hope they make FT-817 coasters and doilies next!! I will buy them from Cheap QSL's!! Richy N2ZD

Simple as a doorstop. Built like a brick. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is the Cadillac of widgets to hold up your 817.
The description says it all. Solid, heavy metal.
Even with the MP-1 mounted on the 817, it's staying put.

In fairness, there are other smaller, lighter bail devices better suited for portable operation. But for table-top comfort, this is it. And for only $12.99 plus postage!
