One problem only. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I installed this rig in it's first car 20 years ago. Yes I had to replace the batteries in the remote mic once "A 5 min job: It is in it's third car now and it has NOT had any trouble since. I have had a chance to put it on a friend’s service monitor. The receiver is still in spec and the TX is on frequency and provides the advertised power out. My reason for checking is the power out was low and I found a shorted coax, yes the shut-down in the rig worked as it should.

Pure Junk Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The IC-2700h I owned with all the accessories turned out to be the biggest piece of junk ever manufactured. The unit has had multiple failures including: internal connectors, failure of both RF modules, problems with poor soldering on pc boards and intermittent connection when using an external speaker due too bad soldering on speaker jacks. Even when working, it was beleaguered by an enormous amount of intermod and could never be used anywhere near the Chicago land area. The last strew was went it stopped receiving on both VHF and UHF. This time the IC-2700 went to the scrap heap. After owning this ill-conceived rig, I will never purchase an Icom rig again.

Nice RIG! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I like the radio. Never had any trouble with it. It performs well. I will not give a 5 just because of the cross-band repeater feature that is not available out of the box. Besides that, I think is a great radio.

great radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
this radio is very good i don't understand why these outher people are having trouble with this radio. the radio is very nice in looks and performance! the only thing i can see that is a small problem is it dosent crossband repeat right out of the box. but if you go to modsdk there is a mod to get it to crossband repeat. also i didn't find were or if in the manual,if there is a way to receive v/v or u/u. but it does v/u receive just fine! over all just, remember,it was built when these radio's were just getting the technology to do some of the things these radio's today! this is a fine radio and very well made. this radio has a strong receive and a strong subaudible tone! it really comes thru! excellent audio and a pleasuer to operate. all in all,i rate this radio as great for it's time!! try one and see for your self!

DONT BUY IT Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought this radio new with all the bells& whistles. InfraRed mike was quirky, radio was never abused, seldom ever ran high power and didn't see very much use. After 2 years one side of radio is useless, volume, squelch and VFO change randomly. Front end is easily overloaded
by out of band signals. Not worth repairing, a
major dissapointment!!
