I love the plate and biodegradable radial pins Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After a phonecon with one of the fine gentlemen at DXEngineering, I ordered the plate, (with 60 screws/bolts), and some other misc stuff. Received it today. That is a really fine peice of antenna hardware. I put up 15 sixty foot radials today. I've been a ham since 1979 (orig KA5GVG), and have never put more than just a few radials just because I'm too lazy to bury them. and have always had a tribander for most of my serious 10/15/20meter work. The guys at DXEngineering explained to me how the plastic biodegradable radial pins worked. I followed their instructions while installing the first 15 of 60 radials today, and I can't believe it, but my wife cannot even see the wire looking down in the backyard from our upstairs!!!!. I'm not kidding when I say that RIGHT AFTER I mowed the grass down real low around the antenna, and installed the first 15 radials, I did a test and ran my 30hp lawn tractor over some of the radials with the blades moving, and set a the normal height that I mow at. NO PROBLEM!, the radials are still there!!! Man, this is cool...73 de DOug/W4IDW in Wellington, Oh w4idw@yahoo.com

money well spent Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Wished I would have bought one a few years ago. Due to tower and rotor trouble, I have been off the air for a few months. I put a Butternut vertical up, but had trouble getting all the radials mounted, etc. Bought the radial plate and had a break in the winter weather, so I installed it this weekend. What a difference !!! Not only in ease of adding radials, but also in ease and secure way to attach the feedline. I used a SO-239 attached to the radial plate, and the coax just screws right in. Based on what I can hear and work now, I think maybe my base feed attachment was suspect prior to this, but now, I'm working stations with ease again. Plus my bandwidth is much narrower now on 80m, this tells me my radial system prior to this was ineffective; Last night I worked several stations in EU on 75 phone. This purchase was money well spent.

Excellent for SteppIR BigIR Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a really great product. I'm using it with a SteppIR BigIR vertical. I purchased the clamp to attach to the short support pole of the BigIR and I purchased extra hardware to fill all 60 holes. I have 52 radials at present covering an arc of about 220 degrees. I plan to add some more over the remaining 140 degrees at a later date. So I populated the screws on 3 sides, leaving the 4th side open for the future radials.

It keeps the radials extremely neat and orderly. I actually prepared the radials in advance with soldered lugs, coiled them with twist ties, and attached them to the radial plate screws. I just plopped the radial plate down over the BigIR mounting post and unrolled the radials one by one. No tangles, no headaches.

A little bit of anti-seize on the stainless hardware will insure that they will not bind when tightening. You can easily put 2 lugs on each screw.

All-in-all a terrific investment. The final result looks very professional.

Too nice to leave outside Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
To say doing business with the gentlemen at Dx Engineering is a pleasure, is something of a mild understatement.
A week ago i ordered a radial plate, balunand various brackets and bits and bobs.
One week later, i have the lot here in S.W France.
Happy radio amateur?
Yes indeed, as always, DXE provide high quality products and exceptional prices, with a customer support thats second to none in my opinion.
The only problem being, the radial plate is just a work of art, i am loathed to install it outside !!
Dx Engineering's competition, they have'nt got any...Regards to all Adrian F5VLY

Quality and Value Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I used the DX Engineering radial plate with a 40 meter 1/4 wave vertical I made. The stainless steel hardware and stainless steel plate is a thing of beauty. I got an "extra" set of 20 nuts, bolts, washers, etc. from them for $4.95. I don't think I could buy it anywhere else for less. With 1300 + feet of radials, my vertical works very well. As others have pointed out, there is a down side. With 80 holes you may be driven to put down more radials. I just bought a 1/4 mile of aluminum wire. Now I need 40 more sets of nuts, bolts and washers.

Used it for my HF9V vertical, refer to my HF9V Butternut-Bencher vertical review..Outstanding stainless steel quality and ease of use..Filled every other hole with a radial (#17 steel fence wire, terminated with 12in nails),.. most up to 26ft long, 2 additional at 55ft..Outstanding results!..73's -Dave, AA3EJ
