second thoughts after a while Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Well after living with this radio in the car for about a year I now can't wait to get rid of it!
It IS a pain to program on the fly, I find that the overall use of the radio is poorly thought out in regards to the programing. Several of the buttons do not state what they COMPLETLY do and you find yourself fumbling way to much to use the radio. Compared to my old 707 Kenwood, which
is WAY easyer to program, and a friends Yaesu 7800, this Icom is NOT a keeper! Paul.

Great First Rig Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I got mine a year ago when I first became a ham. This radio is awesome. I am now on HF but I still use this radio to talk to local buddies. With 65 watts of power you will be full quieting into the repeaters in area.

When the 2m band has opened up I have talked to people in Wisconsin, Southern Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Iowa.

Good radio love it very much!

Very Nice Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just got this rig yesterday. So far, very happy with it. It's compact, well built, has a nice display, and I've had good audio reports. I like the extended receive as well!

I've always had Yaesu rigs in the past, so am used to their menu systems and set up procedures. This is my first Icom, so setting it up, as I expected, was different. However, reading the manual makes it all clear.

So far.... a very nice rig

Good Solid 2 meter workhorse Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned the IC-2200H for just over a year. Bought it new from a dealer at a Hamfest for $129.00. I use it 95% mobile and 5% base. It really is a solid radio and built well. The transmit high-power is great but mid to low usually gets it done. This is important because the radio will get hot if I transmit for any long duration on high power.

Really easy to program compared to my other radios and that's great becaue I often program on the run. After a few times the manual was gone.

Again, well built, solid, and great audio reports. Never a problem with this radio in the past year. Can't beat it for the money. Don't hesitate, go buy it!

Very Nice Radio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This radio has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. I am using the radio as a base station and have had good reports on the transmitted audio and I can report that the received audio is very good. For the price of the powerful little rig, you can not go wrong. The programing of the radio has been rather simple. However it does program differently than many other radios... keep the users manual handy for the first several weeks and you will be fine.

Easy to program.. Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This is my second IC 2200H and like the first it is great. The reason for this posting is because I have read so many entries saying how hard the IC 2200H is to program. I programmed my first using only the book that came with the radio, this time I used the following site
http://www.hamuniverse.com/icomv8000prog.html
Makes life a lot easier and 'though the site is for the IC V8000 it follows the same instructions to prog. the 2200H. Takes about 15 minutes to prog all repeaters + offsets and tones where necessaty.
Cheers from Australia. 73... Geoff VK3GV

Great 2 meter rig Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
had this 2200h for awhile now and found it to be a GREAT 2 meter rig.

I agree that the programing is a little difficult for some that arent familiar with icom radios, but once that is mastered,,you'll have e 2 meter radio that will go the distance and wont let you down.

this radio is built like a tank,,so far the only complaint that i have with this radio is the tone of the speaker audio, it may just be me but it just dosent have enough base in it,,but i solved that by using a Uniden ESP20 external speaker, using this speaker made a world of diffrence in listening to this radio, now it seems to have the perfect speaker tone.

I'm still going to give this radio a 5

Great Rig ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this radio as a replacement for the IC-2100H that I sold, and I couldn't be happier. The radio performs very well, but I did have one slight problem with it. One day I noticed that the radio either wouldn't transmit, or it would transmit intermittently. I did a Google search and discovered that with some of the provided HM-133V microphones, there apparently is/was an issue with a 'dirty' PTT switch in the mic. I simply disassembled the mic, and gave the switch a squirt or two of Chemtronics Tun-O-Wash contact cleaner and the problem went away. Other than that minor issue, the rig works excellent!

Good Value Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have operated this radio for about four months now and it works very well. It is somewhat difficult to program and requires close reading of the manual. I would probably give it a 5 rating except for the set up/program seems more difficult than it should be. Overall it is good value for the money.

Excellent radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is the first radio I have bought and programed from the start. It is a bit difficult to program, and I still haven't figured out how to get the thing to scan. OTher then that the radio works great, and am getting good reviews fromo other hams.
