Unbelievable Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This company is paying attention to quality and service. Everything went together exactly right the first time. It should last for years and years. There's nothing to wear out, rust out, leak, etc. etc. The heart of the entire antenna is the matching transformer that hooks all five wires together and then to the coax. It works just beautifully. They tell me they make it themselves. The SWR is nearly flat across all five bands. I have a peak of 1.6:1 at one place on one band. I'll take that any day.
I am now getting consistent 5-9++ reports pushing a kW through it.
This is a great high-performance, no BS, heavy-duty antenna. Buy one. You won't regret it.

Low cost per S unit Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had the small version (10-17 meters) for 3 years and haven't had to touch it. Durable, full bandwidth on all bands, almost no SWR, no power limits. Running at 25 feet the front to back is not the best but I have to live with that. The wire is the best since sliced bread. Unbreakable. A plus was low SWR on the 6 meter SSB band. All this for $250 at the door. I only wish I had it at 90 feet.

Fine antenna Time Owned: unknown months.
I have had my Lightning Bolt 5 band 2 ele HF quad for about 5 years. I originally chose this antenna over yagis because I needed to hide the antenna in a group of pine trees. The quad has only a 10 ft. turning radius and is only about 35 ft. off the ground to the center boom. The antenna has FAR EXCEEDED what I thought it would do at this height and hidden in the trees. Comparing it to a friend's yagi at 90 ft. I have found that I am only ONE S unit average lower than his signal reports at most! The antenna is very broad and exhibits low SWR on all bands, as is typical with quads. I must say that I am impressed with the support from Lightning Bolt, too. A horrendous thunderstorm damaged the antenna and a tree limb broke a fiberglass spreader a few years ago. Also, the aluminum hub where the spreaders attach to the boom got broken. Lightning Bolt replaced the broken aluminum hub piece at no cost because it has a lifetime warranty. The fiberglass spreader was replaced at a total cost of $10. This antenna is a tremendous performer and I have no complaints.
