Yes!! V6 not V600 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Thank you for bringing to my attention the model reference error typo in my March 10, 2005 posting. I incorrectly used the model V600 reference when I meant the V6 model.

The V600 do not compare to the 7506 or V6.

It is the V6 which are virtually identical to the 7506.

The V600 Sony Studio headsets are nearly identical to the MDR-7506.

The only differences are cosmetic. The text on the labels read somewhat differently, the cord is matte not glossy and the 1/4" extension plug is not gold. Aside from that they are identical and perform identically to the MDR-7506 and include the protective bag.

Very 73,

Pay for non functional cosmetics if you wish; the choice is yours. The V-600 sell for around $60.

V600 no, V6 yes Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The Sony MDR-V6 phones are the ones to watch out for, as they are a virtual clone of the 7506.

Also, as a followup to my last review, I highly, HIGHLY recommend doing the Beyerdynamics velour earpad mod. The stock pads finally disintegrated on me after around 3,000 hours of use, and the difference in confort with the new pads is enormous. No more sweaty ear syndrome!

Do a Google search for "beedt250v" and you'll find a store that sells the velour pads. Even if your phones are new, you won't regret doing the mod.

There is a difference... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I must disagree with Rob, there is a difference in these two phones. The 7506's more closely reproduce the human ear frequencies (20-20kHz) and in an A to B listening test, the 7506's blow the v600's away in a ham radio application - which is what we're all about, here. They are certainly more well made (aimed at the recording studios, versus the home stereo market) and I still believe they are well worth the price difference. But, don't take our word for it, try them both out before spending your hard-earned bucks! Thanks for listening.

very nice Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After reading the reviews i went out and bought a pair too. I owned heil and kenwood in the past and these are by far superior in performance and quality. Not only do they feel nice and sound nice but look really great. Really bring out the nice sounds with my icom756pro2.

excellent value Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
In a quest to find the "perfect headphones" I saw these on e-ham, they had nothing by 5's by the people using them, I thought they must be good, so I ordered a pair, paid 99 dollars...am I happy?? in one word "YES" they do all the other owners claim, light, comfy, and easy on your head, not to tight, but, very adjustable and seem good for long periods of time, for dx and contest work...I use them with the FT-1000d and they sound fine...I would recommend these to any dx or contester, or casual operator ...you won't be sorry...I have tried several other headphones and sent them all back, not these...

Just Perfect Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
You know most of these reviews on Eham are pretty close. But they are reviews of personal choices or experiences. On the other hand this one here is the closest yet. I picked up a 2 used mint pairs deal on Ebay for less then $100. WOW...I love these headphones for listening to the home stereo or lil boom box on the bench, even for metal detecting. But most of all Ham radio at night when family is sleeping. I have had played them on Ken 850, 830, 520, Icom 746pro, 706 Yaesu 990 and now my Ft1000mp Mark V. No matter if a station is 3-6khz wide(Audio Boys) or the ole 2.0-2.4khz transmit these sound perfect. Just enough bass(not boomy) to here the wide audio guys on the band and not tinny to spike your ears when listening for hours for low signal DX in the hiss and static in which after a while will drive you crazy trying to pick these stations up just because of the hiss and static. As you raise the audio level up the sound quaility still remains he same.

Only thing I can tell ya is if you want a light weight, comfy, true to reproduction sound pair of headphones. My friends for $50-$60 or so used in mint condition or even brand new these are the cans you need on your head. I like to thank all the rest of folks here that gave a honest review on these headphones. It made me go in seek a pair or Two!!!

excellent headphones Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I echo all the positive reviews. Sony even offers replacement ear cups should the genuine artifical naugahyde cover material deteriorate. you can order them directly from sony.

Good value Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
These headphones are the best ones I have used so far for ham radio. I am using them with a TS-950SDX, and love them. Very comforable, with soft ear cushions for extended wear. Highly recommended.

Great value for music and radio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Sure took your advice guys, these are a great set of cans and worth every penny of the £110 they cost here in the UK. Very light and comfortable for long term listening on amateur radio and sound superb into my FT1000MP MkV, IC746 and FT990 set up. Lots of volume and wide responce for either rag chewing, pushing the limits on 14.178MHz or winkling out the rare ones on 50MHz. Awesome from my PC sound card with MP3s, real deep base, great presence and as much top as my ears can handle. Best set of phones I've ever had and I've worked in the sound industry too. Take up no room on the bench either.
Darn it, they're so good I wear them to bed!

Great Cans! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just purchased a set of these. My rig, the Icom 756Pro2 has a cutoff of 300-3000hz. The sound is so goog that I feel like I have a brand new rig-a best buy.
