A real bargain Time Owned: more than 12 months.
These really work well, are light and comfy and at about $85 are a real bargain. The connector is an 1/8" stereo plug with a screw-on 1/4" adapter so you can use it with any radio, very slick.

still rocking after 10 years Time Owned: more than 12 months.
What can I say. I did the leg work looking for the best back 10 years ago and the Sony MDR-V6 was head and shoulders above everything else. It wasn't even close. They just have it all. Strong and accurate bass, crystal clear highs, realistic mid-range, volume, durability, comfort,... what's not to like.

My only two problems in 10 years are that my foam is long gone but to be honest I don't miss it that much. Moving the speakers closer to my head made the bass stronger and they're still comfortable. My son did a fine job of replacing the foam but I missed the extra bass so I took the foam back out.

The second problem is getting these phones away from the wife and kids. We have a dozen sets of phones at least but everyone wants these every time. They just play the best on everything from mp3 players to portable CD's to the PC to the keyboards to minidiscs to the main sound system.

It says everything that these phones can still be bought over 15 years after they came out. Name another set of phones that have been available since the 1980's.

Very good sound Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I agree that for communications, audio response outside of the 100 to 3200 Hz range in superfluous. However, compared to a number of lower quality headphones, these sound very good. They have improved the sound and intelligibility of both SSB and CW. the other headsets have sounded muffled or muddy, perhaps having too much mid-bass response.

Their comfort could be improved. The cushions are not large and soft enough, there is very little cushioning on the headband and I would prefer a straight rather than coiled cord.

Having a 3mm and 1/4 plug is a nice feature as is having an instruction sheet that has a parts list and shows how to disassemble the phones.

Solved my problem Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
On QSK, my IC-756 would give me a "pop" at the beginning and end of each character. It sounded the same on both Azden and Heil headsets, so I minimized it with AGC settings and lived with it. The Sony MDR-7506 cans, however, deliver a relay-like "click" instead. How? Why? Dunno, but it's improved my enjoyment of QSK 100%. Also, they keep out extraneous sounds and are comfortable enough that after a half hour or so I forget I am wearing them.

Sound Great and Comfortable Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just received a pair of MDR-V6 headphones as an anniversary present. They are light, comfortable, and sound great. I had hinted that I wanted this model after reading the reviews, and referred my wife to millionbuy.com because of a previous review.

Cudos to millionbuy.com...wife said when she initially ordered them online she was told they were out of stock, but the sales rep asked questions regarding the intended use to help her find an alternate choice. She told him I wanted this specific model. He later emailed her to tell her a pair had become available because of a cancelled order.

That seems like service above and beyond what is typical these days. Thanks to the previous reviewers. I have wasted too much on headphones that were uncomfortable or sounded terrible.

The perfect contest headphone Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've owned two sets of the MDR-V6's over the years and LOVE them. They are light, comfortable and their audio is fabulous. I like "enclosed ear" headphones over open-air types, particularly for radio, so these are perfect.

Great price, great quality, great sound, great value. Buy 'em!

Perfect Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just got my own pair of MDR-V6 (I beleive it is the same as MDR-7506) for only $83 including shipping from millionbuy.com. Thanks to everybody for these reviews, so I found a really good set of headphones. Besides outstanding sound quality, SONY MDR-V6's have perfect ergonomic design. They are light, and you can fold them when not in use.

Fine product Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I could re-iterate all of the fine things said by previous reviewers, but won't.
I did want to note a convenience factor with these phones that I haven't found with others--the cord! (The 7506's have a 3M.~10' coiled cord.) Most of my HF operation is contesting with hours in front of the radio. The longer cord lets me stand-up to operate, move around for equipment tuning, or just to stretch, all without having the phones pulled off my head, or having to take them off. A small point? Perhaps. But it's small points which differentiate between good and great.

Love em Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I used my very first paycheck from my first full time radio gig eight years ago to buy a pair of MDR-V6's and continue to use the same set today. As a matter of fact, they've just about given up the ghost from all that use and its time to buy another pair. Care to guess which brand and model I've ordered??? Of course... maybe a new name, but these are hands down the best "cans" for general use I've ever come across at any radio station.
