Great DX Headphones Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Hi!
I have a pair of Sony MDR-V6s (same as MDR-7506).
I worked some DX a few minutes ago and I just unpluged the phones from my TS-870S.
Using this phones on the TS-870S you just find a new world of sounds out there. I just keep getting amazed with the sound detail this phones are able to deliver.
Now I have them pluged to a hi-fi system and I am listening to some nice music while writing this review.
The bass is amazing and every detail is there again.
No doubt. I like this phones!
Take care.

The best headphones Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Have had a pair of SONY MDR-V6 (same as MDR-7506) for 8 years. They are lightweight, comfortable, and have extremely smooth, wide frequency response. Great for CW, especially with main-rx=left, sub-rx=right stereo output. Tried these with an older (large) CD player with a direct hi-performance 1/4" headphone output, and the frequency reponse is simply amazing!

Great Set of Headphones Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Like everyone above, they really work, feel better on the head, almost no fatigue, and very pleasant audio. You will be resetting your DSP, DNF, and DBP settings on your radio when you get this set on your head. Ordered from Amazon and recieved in 3 days ground UPS. Total was less than $80 including shipping. Previous product was Radio Shack mono headset, hot, tight fit, and needing better response. When you are done chasing that pile-up, relax with a good CD.....

What else is there?!? Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used MDR-V6's and MDR 7506's in our band (www.geocities.com/zerogravityband) and in my work as an Audio Engineer at WFUM-TV28 for well over 13 years. I have tried several kinds....Koss, Senn., AKG, Roland, etc. and none of them can even come close to sound reproduction of the Sony top line ( MDR-V6's came out before Sony changed the name to "7506"....same phones). There is no way to even describe the full range sound you get from these!! Get a pair and try them! By the way...if you don't believe me, go to the website above and look at the pictures. All the guys wear them! I've had my V6's for 13 years and they work like new...little shakey in the low end, but I really pound them!!...so I need a new pair after 13 years. Try that with any other headset! !

What a difference!!! Time Owned: unknown months.
Simply put: These are terrific headphones!!
Signals almost appear to pop out at you when wearing these "cans". The audio response is amazing and listening fatigue on the bands is minimized to a great degree. They are also very comfortable for long hours of HF work. I sure wish these had a microphone attachment.
Don't bother trying anything else. I've had my share of different brands and these work the best. No wonder all the radio station announcers, Dj's, etc. use these headphones! They're the best!

Best out there! Time Owned: unknown months.
I've used the MDR-V6 headphones on the air at the various radio stations I've worked at for the last 10 years or so. I've tried Koss, Sennheiser, AKG, Pioneer and many others and you absolutely cannot beat these Sony headphones. Buy a pair and see for yourself. You'll love 'em! I've even seen these 'phones with a boom mic attached but can't remember where to get one. Shouldn't be too hard to rig one up, though.

In a word Outstanding! Time Owned: unknown months.
W4GN recommended these headphones and I second his recommendation. Although a bit more expensive than your "home audio" versions, these phones will make either chatting or wrestling with the pile-ups more enjoyable and much, much less fatiguing. Supremely comfortable, with a frequency response that will even make your 940 sound good! Hear what you've been missing and pick up a pair. If you shop around, you should be able to save on the SRP.

Sony MDR-V6 Time Owned: unknown months.
I second everything previously mentioned. The Sony MDR-V6 are the same as the MDR-7506. Highly recommend 'em. Many pro soundmen and DJ's use these. Why? THEY ARE COMFORTABLE EVEN AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS. They are available widely, too. In fact I bought mine online at Amazon.com for around $80.

Simply The Best Time Owned: unknown months.
Besides DX'ing, antennas and contesting, I quietly experiment with HF SSB audio, and having tried every ham radio headphone model over the years, I proceeded to the stereo market(www.fullcompass.com)specifically. There are some fine headphones out there and it does get confusing, so I asked Dave Cradler at Full Compass what he'd recommend for my purposes. With no doubts he said try a pair of the Sony MDR-7506 Professional Studio Monitors. If I were disappointed I could look at something else. One must realize that there is a wealth of audio information awaiting your ears in a radio like a TS-870S if given a proper outlet. My first impression, other than the light weight and extremely comfortable fit, was, gosh but it's like opening the door to a world that I'd never in my 45+ years as a ham experienced. The high, mid and low ranges of the audio spectrum just burst into my ears and for a long time, all I wanted to do was listen.Even CW is less fatiguing over lengthy periods of op-time.There's a clear-cut reason why these headphones are called "Studio Monitors."They are used routinely in US studios. Now they've found a welcome home at W4GN too.
