Love it! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a very sturdy, well structured and "right sized," Dual Band Radio.
The fact it's Yaesu is icing on the cake!!

Good little radio! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Purchased this radio a year ago...primary use was for hiking, camping, satellite ops, and hamfests. After several months of use was very pleased with the battery life, purchased the battery illiminator same day the radio was purchased just incase, haven't needed it so far. Durable and reliable are my two cents!~ only down check is after severval months of using the radio for satellites I decided to purchase the ext mic...the plug for the mic does not seat very well due to the waterproofing seal, had to modify the seal inorder to seat plug properly (kept making the radio Tx when plug would not seat completely)...other than that everything is good! 73 Neil

One of the last with a squelch knob Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This has been an excellent radio for my use. The receiver is very sensitive and is selective enough to not have the squelch constantly open up while driving when the HT is scanning. This is one of the few radios still available NEW that has a squelch knob. That winds up being a very handy feature. I also own a VX-150, VX-170 and VX-7R. The FT-60 is my "go to" radio. It does everything well and is reasonably priced.

Great HT Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just purchased this HT a couple of months ago and for the price you can not beat it. It takes a lot of reading and understanding in learning how to program it but overall I highly reccomend. The battery life is great as well. For the price, you can not beat it. I would purchase it again.

This is a exellent radio in my opinion Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I go out this radio a few years back when I got my license. It is very rugged and has survived a few accicendanl drops. It has very good baterry life. The stock antenna is very good actually. I used a loaner vx5 for awhile and this one is much easier to operate. This is not a waste of money.

Love this little radio! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchased my FT60R right after getting my ticket again. N8ART at Universal Radio recommended it as great radio for quality and ease of use and he was totally right.

He was right, it has never let me down. It has a great feel, easy to handle, screen is easy to read, the buttons are easy to push with my big fat fingers. I use it with my Coastal Chipworks TNC-X via the CT-44 cable to my Mac for High Power Rocketry tracking. It has never given me one issue in over 3 years.

2 years ago in Ft. Lauderdale, I picked up a VAC-370 desktop rapid charger at Mike's for $10.00 new in the box and that allows me to keep the FT60R monitoring beside my desk.

Love the 1 button WX monitor feature.

Now even using it with UI-View 2.03 as a IGate for APRS via TNC-X (before the 5pin din version), custom cable going to the CT-44 adapter before I install the permanent 2m home IGate station.

I would whole heartedly recommend this radio to anyone!

I went to my local candy to look for a new HT. I wanted at least a dual band. It was a slow time in the store, so I asked the 4 guys behind the counter which HT each one owned... they all said FT-60R was their primary HT. While most said they had other HTs with more bells & whistles, they all loved the FT-60R. So I bought one. I've got to say, I have to agree with them. This is a great little radio... not to small, not to big, with just enough heft, and super sound. I even use it with a TNC-X for GPS telemetry decode. I just love this HT! I honestly haven't found a single thing I don't like about it.

Great buy at $160.00 Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Anyone that would buy this radio as a scanner and then give it a lowered rating because it is not designed for that use should be ignored. The radio is one of the easiest to program at an affordable price-not much more than the almost impossible to program Chinese specials. The programming is nearly the same as the early FT-51, and the manual is almost not needed except for understanding the banks. With the free Commander software, it is a breeze to create the banks. I prefer the old style mike connection also, but that isn't a big deal.

A Great First Radio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Great HT for a beginner ham. It's very easy to program and use. I've dropped it several times, not from very high but a couple of feet and it's working fine. Audio quality is ok; people say they can hear my clearly. The keypad and LCD light is plenty bright, and the LCD can be read easily. The battery life is ok. It's a nice little radio. I would recommend it to all beginners.
