great ssb, better than grundig YB400pe Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
paid less than half price for Grundig YB400PE, and almost everything is better than yb400.

Low cost Gem of a radio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I've owned many portable shortwave radios but the 1103 is my all
time favorite. The reasons for this are:

Back-lit display along with all buttons with an auto-light
automatically turns on and off when tuning or a button is
depressed).

Awesome liquid crystal display.

Good sensetivity and selectivity on all bands.

SSB.

And most importantly no chuffing when tuning manually with the side-
mounted rotary tuning dial.

Dual-conversion to boot and low cost.

Hard to get though, I purchased mine from an eBAY vender.

Downside on this radio is strange volume control(button must be
depressed temporarly turning the tuning control into a volume
control).

And the supplied adapter causes static to be introduced on the
broadcast band. Solution for that is either run it strictly off the
recharable batteries or buy another adapter with better filtering.

Blown away! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I'm simply amazed by the radio. It's a very compact set with awesome performance. Sensitivity & selectivity are great. 2 IF bandwidths really helps. Covers 100-29999KHz with BFO & 76-108MHz with stereo through earphones. This is one of the few protables that offers a line-out jack. The "digital" needle & dial are better executed than the Sony ICF-SW40. It offers 2 "alarms" that can be individually set to a station, the length of time the radio plays, & the volume it comes on at. The fit & finish & feel of the radio are excellent. I honestly didn't expect a lot for $75 (delivered from Hong Kong to the US), but I got features & performance that would have cost 3 or 4 times that just a few years ago. This is a little gem with so many features & performance in a small package.

Amazing Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Double superhetrodine synthesized radio with electronic needle scale. Tunes to LW which is unusual amongst the recent crop of radios.
Very clean, sensitive and selective. Exceptionally low internal noise floor.Exceptionally good resistance to external noise. No muting and no chugging sound on SW and FM when the tuning knob is used! Almost as smooth as analog. Very little chugging sound on LW and MW. SSB via BFO.
Very good finish. Blows Japanese made radios away.
All this for about $75 delivered from Hong Kong to the US via airmail (about 8 days wait). It's an exceptional value.
