Review Summary For : PJ2T Curacao Rental
Reviews: 2MSRP: 1400-$1700/week
Description:
A group called the Caribbean Contesting Consortium rents their station in Curacao when the group is not using it. This is a top contest station located next to the ocean.

In September of 2005 air condtioning was added to both bedrooms. This makes for good sleeping and humidity control. The main room/shack is still not air conditioned, however. Also, we now have a tribander at the top of the Ridge, 1100 feet north of the shack and about 250 feet above it, fixed on Europe.

Many Improvements To House & Stations Time Owned: more than 12 months.
First a disclaimer - I'm a member of the club that has built and operates this station/house. However, I'm also a satisfied customer, with 12 trips to ths site since 2002, and two more planned for the next few months. I do not receive *any* income from a rental, and when I go to the facility, I pay rent as any well.

The house/stations still is perched on a cliff 37 feet above the Caribbean, looking in the direction of Venezuela less than 50 miles away.

The two bedrooms are now air conditioned, although the station area still is not. Many fans are available, and we have not lost anyone to heat as yet!

In the past several years, many improvements to the house have been made, including an "Ocean Pavillion" that seats 8 for dinner and includes a gas grill, a "Crows Nest" small sitting area that overhands the ocean, a shady back patio area, and a Roof Terrace that provides a second-floor porch with a great view of the Caribbean and the neighborhood.

There are now sturdy steps down to the ocean nearby for a quick swim or snorkle, and a beach at the (now closed) Sunset Waters Beach Resort a short walk away.

The station facilities have been continuously maintained and improved, with the four full-power stations and antennas mentioned in the previous review, plus two Beverage receiving antennas (USA/JA and Europe) with switching at each of the four stations and the recent addition of a tribander fed with 7/8-inch hardline pointed at Europe and located atop a 140-foot cliff behind the house.

The PJ2T contest results over the past seven years speak to the effectiveness of the station and site on-the-air.

Outstanding station Time Owned: N.A.
This station consists of 17 yagis, mostly monobanders and many in stacked arrays pointed at either the US or Europe plus 4 complete operating positions consisting of FT-1000MPs and linear amplifiers. The site, next to the ocean, and 12 north of the equator provides excellent signals to Europe and the US.

The only drawback to the station is the lack of air conditioning at a very warm location - so you need to be somewhat tolerant of warm living and sleeping conditions.
