New Stock Number, Still Great! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I picked up a pair of very similar speakers two days ago --

Radio Shack 4005053

They were labelled "Presidian 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers", and have 6.5" woofers and .75" tweeters. Spec says 65 Hz - 20 KHz, but the cone resonance is around 100-150 Hz. The enclosures are wood ported-bass boxes.

Cost $30 for two (not sold singly).

My FT-817 has enough power to drive them.

The speaker sounds _great_. Low distortion, plenty of lows for natural voice reproduction, and no "hissiness" at all.

The radio is transformed. It's now a pleasure to listen to, on SSB, AM/FM, and shortwave broadcast signals. I've put away my headphones.

A real bargain!

Great Value / Product Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is one of the best speakers I have found for ham radio use. It sounds great on CW and SSB, is dirt cheap (compared to ham vendor speakers) and it looks really nice next to my FT-1000, and any black transceiver. It sounds as good or better than other popular speakers costing $100 or more.

They are discontinued, but I was able to find them on closeout recently at a few local stores.
