EXCELLENT Antenna Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Does one heck of a job. Iam so happy with the performance of this antenna, that I just ordered their 220-L6.

Well made. Solid performer! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Very light, well made, breaks down and assembles in minutes. Pretty much flat SWR accross the bands. Got mine for 2M & 70CM SSB. First contact was 75mi away on 50W with the antenna on a home made mast taped to a chair in upstairs bedroom (inside the house).

Ray will answer any questions you have immediately, and is a super nice guy.

As inexpensive as these are, I'm going to get another to keep in the truck for portable ops.

Great product!

Excellent Ant for portable ops Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Elk Antennas 2/440 5-element log periodic is a quality product! I love the fact that it breaks down and fits in my pack for easy transport and quick assembly for mountain-topping. Used it this summer for the VHF QSO party and FD. Wouldn't have been able to rack up the grid squares with out it! Performed flawlessly! I would make the same purchase no question!

Great Attic Antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this antenna about 2 months ago and just getting around to writting a review. I put this antenna in my tall attic on a tripod/rotor for monitoring 2m/70cm. It actually does very well up there. It captures a clear signal from at least one distant repeater and local repeaters are fantastic. I don't have my license yet so I have not experienced transmitting with this antenns. The attic gets hot here in Alabama but the PVC seems to be doing ok. I am gonna keep my eye on that thought. I don't go portable with it but I can see how the rapid assembly/ disassembly design could make very handy in that respect. I am really happy with the size and performance of this antenna; just what I needed.

Nice Bang For The Buck Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I got my Elk 2/440 from eBay for $27. Probably the best $27 I ever spent on ham radio. It is a great portable antenna with very good performance and band coverage. I have a 10 Ft makeshift mast that is carried in my van that slips together for setting up at county and state lines and grid squares.

The Elk comes close to the performance of my 20 year old Cushcraft 11 element 2 meter beam and I get 440 as a bonus. I had it up on a 20 foot pole in the yard for about a year. We had winds that tore up our roof and knocked the pole down. The Elk was not damaged.

Well worth the money you spend on it.

An Excellent Compact Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is a fine antenna. If you are interested in an antenna for an emergency go-kit, or a backpacking/camping compact antenna, this is the one to buy. I've used mine to soup up my HT on 2-meter FM -- I hit a repeater 30 miles away full quieting on the other side of the 2,200-foot East Bay hills with no problems. (This from my backyard on a ten-foot mast, which was at sea level.)
I've also used the Elk as an easy to use antenna on campouts on 2-meter sideband. The results were great.
I chopped up some sections of PVC pipe and used some aluminum tent stakes and 3/16" dacron antenna cord to make up a backpack antenna setup for my HT with a 12-foot, guyable mast. Total weight: about 4 pounds, and it works great.
One small detail: The colored tape to ID the different elements might break down over time, so you might want to mark the elements with something a bit more durable, like paint or nail polish. Other than that, a perfect antenna.

Great compact dual-band beam Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After much searching for dual-band beam for home use, I came across Elk.
Looked too good to be true, with good figures for small dimensions.
Roughly modeled it using software, and got very similar results (guessed dimensions from photos!).
As UK Pound was very good against US Dollar, decided to give it a go.
Ordering was very straight forward, and Elk were very helpful.
Arrived very quickly (no import duty either :-)
Assembled very easy in minuits, no nead for instructions as all colour coded.
Only thing I dont like about construction is the SO-239 isnt sealed at back, and exposed, so covered it in grease and self amalgamating tape after connecting Coax.
Put it up and it seems to work pretty well.
I have it mounted horisontal, but still picks up repeaters 100miles from QTH.
Using it to listen to satelites, and it is great.
Shows good directivity, but I havent had much else to compare it with for gain.
Worked a couple of VHF/UHF activity evenings (when work permits) and amazed at results (200+ miles quite regular).
Definately recomend to anyone looking for a compact directional VHF/UHF antenna, and purchasing from Elk is completely hassle free.

Excellent for portable contesting Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I ordered the 2/440 while deployed in Southwest Asia in early 2007 for use in the June 2007 ARRL Contest (See my On-line Soapbox comments). Ordering was a breeze over the internet even being 1/2 a world away! The antenna arrived on time although damaged by the post office in shipping. Despite a mangled box, the antenna itself was fine and I assembled it in maybe 5 minutes (including taking pictures of the unopenned box, unpacking, reading the instructions, and assembly).

I have now used it for portable operation in 3 contests. It works great on 144.2 MHz SSB/CW. There is very little (read that as virtually no) 432 MHz activity here in the Gulf Coast, so I've never been able to really get much of a feel for it on that band.

I operate portable QRP (always five watts or less output even when the rules let you use 10). It's one coax feed, quick and foolproof assembly/disassembly, light weight, and adaptability make it a great choice for this type of operation.

I have owned an Arrow beam and would rate them about even.

I would definitely buy another!

Great antenna, compact and light Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have had the Elk 2m/440 log periodic up for about 4 months now, and just love it. Mine is mounted horizontally polarized, as we work some sideband on both 2m and 440 around here, yet it still works very well for standard VHF communication, and can hit all of the local repeaters. Very light and compact, and well built.

excellent value Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought mine for portable work with a ht. It has definately met my expectations and then some.I would be repeating the kind words of so many others, for everyone else that is having problems re read the instructions, especially about feedline routing. I wished they made them a little bigger maybe 6mtrs. on up. I'm sure it would be a success too!!
