Wonderful ! Time Owned: N.A.
I have the KOSS 3000 headset which has the same earphone receivers as the QZ/99 headphones. Two key features:

1) They sound good. Full range, not particularly heavy on bass, and not particularly bright on treble, which is ideal for communications grade audio. Solid, clear mid range where all the action is.

2) They provide 30 dB passive noise attenuation - so they KILL ambient NOISE in the shack, such as noise from cooling fans, screaming kids at play, or the XYL whining you have not finished your chores.

The trade off is they are a bit heavy at around 15 oz. but that is a small price to pay for the incredible noise attentuation. The oil filled earphone pads are comfortable, but can get warm and sweaty over extended periods, but this is a problem with nearly any headphone that employs vinyl ear pads. The good bit, is they are effective at attenuating ambient noise. You hear the radio, not all the cooling fans and other noise in the shack. This is passive noise attenuation and it works all the time, on all sound, unlike active noise attenuation circuits that require batteries and which only work on some types of constant background noise, a limited subset of what these cans ignore.

Bonus: they are super handy in crowded, noisy contest and field day environments, helping you to concentrate on what is happening on the rig, and not in the shack around you.

So... good audio, comfortable (despite being kinda heavy) and super effective ambient noise rejection. Great cans for the ham shack. I would never be without them, especially when working contests with my friends. Period. End of Report.

Just MY take... / K8JHR /

WEAK,&TOO Heavy Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Heavy ,well made,POOR VOLUMN(60ohm)(bad match)on IC-7800 and TS-590.The Yaesu YH-77STA are excellent AT $99.00. But the SANGEAN EU-55 are MY BEST pick. Light weight ,earphone stops so they dont keep changing size.32ohm LOTS OF VOLUME,COPY BETTER THAN THE YAESU A LITTLE. AND 1/3 THE PRICE $37.00 ON Amazon. there are nicer earphones for lots of money,BUT FOR COPPING WEAK DX I really like the EU-55. GL&73

Good but a bit bulky Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I use these on my Orion. Stereo/mono line switch is very helpful. I can hear one receiver in both ears or seperate the receivers in each ear. Quality is excellent. Isolation is very good. Very comfortable. The ear cup volume control is fine but offers little practicle use. The weight is much less than hi-fi stereo phones (15 oz) but could be lighter. Impedance is a high 60 ohm so watch out when you pull the plug from the radio; your volume from your speaker will make you jump for that AF control.

I Love 'em Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
XYL complained that lightweight phones would not stay put on her head. She preferred my Koss Pro4AA phones, but we only had one set. Decided to try something new. These are lighter and have the same (except for color) headband design. They keep outside noise out of your ears much more effectively (I would guess 6 to 10 dB more isolation) than the Pro4AA. The stereo/mono switch in the cord is a potential point of failure, but could be handy with some rigs. Volume control also nice if two headsets "t"ed to same source. Does not have boom mic attaching stud. Comes with 3.5 mm phone plug and adaptor for 6.4 mm (1/4 inch) which is handy for many new rigs, yet another possible point of failure. Mfrs specs say LF only down to 40 Hz compared to 10 Hz on Pro4AA, you'll never miss the bass for communications use.
