Works great! Hard to modify Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I picked one up on eBay in mint condition and it works great. Just reading the 10m modification makes me queezy - I don't think I'll attempt it (it's pretty ugly - suggest reading the product review in QST that addresses it). If you're lucky, you can find a European model that has the factory 10m setting.

Works FB all Day Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Purchased this amp in 1987. Never had a problem.
Averages 1kw all day long. Output is dependent on
input power. My TS-940s will drive it to 1100W on 10m, increasing to 1500 out on 75m.

A good, steady amp. QSK would be nice, but I'm mainly a SSB op, with rtty and digital on the side. On rtty, I run lower power, averaging 700-500watts.

An excellent desk top amplifer. Time Owned: unknown months.
I have used my TL 922A since early 1983 and it has never failed me. I operate it on all bands 10m -
thru 160m (including 12m & 17m WARC bands) and the
amp. is capable of over 1200 watts on any band.
In the CW or low voltage mode the TL922 drops the plate voltage to the two 3-500Z by approx. 1000v.
and the amp. still puts out up to 800w. on SSB.
Only once in 18 yrs. did I open the amp.to clean & burnish the relay contacts.

It's solid and reliable product but not for today' Time Owned: unknown months.
I had bought my TL922 6 years ago.I am a contester,so I used to run it heavy duty often.
The only breakage happened two years ago when one of the tubes has shortened inside causing death of few diodes. No more problems after replacement even I sometimes forget to switch back of SSB mode when keying CW!No sparkling or arching when I choose wrong antenna. It suffers but keeps quiet!
Anyway TX/RX relay is inertic enough and first dot of my LY2OX call is always cut off,so I must sign with DE LY2OX always and no QSK possible.
Output is probably closer to 1000W than 1500 when feeding with my TS850 100W in.
Manual plate tuning and band switching is atavistic nowadays so maybe ACOM2000 could be better option.Anyway I shall stay with my old TL922 for some time I'm afraid and we shall spend many contest hours together.

After 18 years it still works as good as the day i Time Owned: unknown months.
I purchased the 922a in june-82---it has never failed me-for any reason..i am not a contester--but--this amplifier has got to be one of the best made 1.5 kw amps available on the used market today.. I have made a very special effort to operate it as per the manual recommendations---but it just purrs along at 800 watts--for hours(years) on end.......what else can i say----kd5ir---sanford kuteman
