Glad to have one again. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Recently purchased a TS-830S Gold in condition 9 with 500hz CW filter. I own and have owned lots of gear over the years and consider the 830 one of the finest rigs for the money that is available. As then as now, beginner or vetran, most 830 owners will agree that its hard to beat the performance. Real ham gear and affordable prices.
Receiver is the noteworthy item. The VBT, notch and IF shift along with the NB provide SSB and CW operators with a package that is tough to compare for the price. A near bullet proof transmitter with 6146's is the frosting. The sweet 830 will create a valuable addition to any shack. de Fred.

OLD WORK HORSE Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
i purchased my ts830m line up from my good friend ian who did a review below, ive owned many radios 850,870 icom 765 just to name a few and my old 830m might not have all the bells and whistles that my ts870 had but it performs just has good like the day it was new, plate and load is very easy and the output pwr is around 150 watts tuned up at full steam, audio reports are great, fantastic receiver and to sum the review up ....the ts830 is a great WORK HORSE.

LOVE IT !!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just purchased the TS830M and must say I love it !!! it is quality kit the condition is superb I am running it on ssb, rtty, psk31, with the mic gain to reduce the drive to 10w and still get superb reports both signal and audio ?? the receive side is great compares with most of the new stuff I have the matching equipment VFO240, AT230 ATU,and the SP230 speaker,
I find it hard to fault the radio the only down side is retuning when you qsy but I can live with that
the fan is near silent ?? everything works just great go get one today Hi Hi
superb value and quality

Great Rig Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Got my TS-830 from an SK who was a member of the local club. I know why he kept it until he died ! It has been an excellent performer on all of the strange and creative antennas I have subjected it to. I also found the external tuner and the external VFO on E-bay.

Spent too much on the external stuff, but had to have that uniform set of gear.

Great Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have a TS-850s as my main base station. A Yaesu 100d mounted in the car but needed a good tube rig. I used to have a ts-520 and still don't know why I sold it. After reading the reviews, I located one on Ebay and got it for $300.00. Running it side by side with the 850, this tube rig has a feel and a sound solid state just can't match. Smooth receive and strong output. Nothing like tuning a radio to bring you back a few years. I would sell the 850 and 100d someday, but I'm keeping the 830 until am in a rest home. THen they can just place it on the food table next too me...

I miss mine Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had a TS830S Gold for 14 years as my only rig. I won the 2000 CW SS for WWA and NW Division with it. I bought an F847 and Ft1000MP Mark V and realized I'd never use the TS830 again, so I sold it for $400. What a mistake.

I miss it.
I want it back.
Don't sell yours, you'll regret it.

If you are looking to buy a $400 rig, THIS is the one. You can take it to Field Day and the RX won't crap-out because of the other nearby transmitters unlike the middle/low end radios for $1000. It glows in the dark some and will warm your shack.

It will love you.

TS 830 The BEST of the BEST Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Recently purchased a TS 830. This is my third radio, and I must say it is the best one in quality and performance characteristics. I have a Yaesu 757 solid state and actually prefer using the Kenwood 830.

Excellent Radio on the used market Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
One of the best radios on the used market. It is durable, reliable and easy to use. Probably outperforms many of the new rigs on the market today. 73,s

Excellent Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I was lucky to find one in very good condition, like new. This radio is a classic one and will be my backup radio. I owned an IC-781 and IC-756 and the noise blank of this radio really works. AMAZING !! I live on a noise area and only this radio let me work 40mts decently.

Thinking to get one ? Do not hesitate. Enjoy !
