trident ta6m5l-dx "long yagi" Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
a five year old kid could build this antenna, every piece has a sticker or a label so you cant go wrong. took two of us 1 hour to build
and double check, for joining the elements you will need a pop rivet tool as trident dont use
screws to make up the element instead they are pop riveted, good idea i thought no rusty screws to worry about later. the elements are then held on the boom with saddle brackets(two per element)

trident say the antenna must have a balun, this can be shop bought or made from a few turns of coaxial cable prior to connection to the driven element. the antenna also uses hairpin tuning but thats not a problem as there is only one place on the antenna you could put it so you cant go wrong.
my previous antenna was a 5 element, the first thing i noticed when we got the trident up on the mast, well apart from the increased noise
(this is a good thing) was that it was very narrow in comparison to my old beam , there was a station reading s-9 on the meter and as i started to move the antenna, after about 20% movement the s-9 signal began to move lower down
and kept going till it reached s-3 and that was me now pointing the back of the beam to him, so the front to back ratio is not all that bad either, this was not a one off , i was able to do this with almost all stations heard. the band opened today and was very busy and it was a joy to be able by small movements of the antenna to null out or reduce some signals while working others, im really pleased with all aspects of this antenna and of course rate it at a 5/5.
thought i would include some specs as well ...
