Very happy Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
What can I add to all the great reviews... This box is working great with my Heil Goldline PRO (PR-20) and Kenwood TS-850 radio. Last weekend we had a scouting activity and every station was very pleased with our strong, but very clean audio. Most comments sounded like "BBC quality, armchair copy, like you sitting next to me, are you sitting in a radiostudio? I don't hear any background!" and so on. Sure it has not all the functions of some of the fine rack equipment, but for this little box it makes your audio way better. With the easy instructions, you can't go wrong in putting a nice signal on the air..

5.0 rating,esp. on getting help ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Hi,I'm not use to getting extra help after buying some of the "ham products"! I bought my first 8-band EQ over 3yrs ago. I liked the unit very much. Then,I wanted a"little bit more"help with my audio. I looked around to see what was being used by other hams. I did the $$ caliculations, and decided on the EQ PLUS.
I've only had it about 4 days so far. I'm just as impressed with it as I was when I first got the 8-band/W2IHY box! I use an 850 and 706mk2G,and my new 756pro3. I don't think I'll be needing any more "audio gear". Now,I can move on to other areas of my shack that need additional attention. I'm glad that Julius was so
paitent with me. I have the "control" of my audio now,and IT FITS my budget.

Awesome! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The compressor alone is worth the price! Talk about a *BIG* increase in audio, without getting nasty! Other than that I can't say anything else that hasn't already been said...GET ONE!

Ditto on the "phenominal" Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
W5GI hit it right on the nose (and, judging by his signal, he's a great source). This is my first foray into enhanced SSB audio, and I couldn't be more pleased. I started out with the 8-Band EQ/Noise Gate and just recently added the EQ Plus...using it with A 756PROIII, 746PRO, And two Heil mics - PR-20, and Pro-set Plus (via an MFJ mic/radio switch-not bad..it works well). The 8-Band EQ really lets you tailor the response the way you want it, and the bass/treble controls on the EQ Plus let you tweak it for varying conditions without changing the 8-bander settings. The compressor lets you go as heavy as you want WITHOUT distortion and doesn't cut off the lows, like the radio inboard comps do. The downward expander provides a smooth, adjustable ambient noise reduction, without sounding like you're on VOX. It can be combined with the 8-band EQ noise gate feature in extremely noisy shack conditions for a quicker noise clamp-down. The effects processor lets you add a little "depth" to the audio without an obnoxious echo effect. You can use any mic with any impedence, and the front-panel audio input gain control is perfect when using different mics with their various levels of output. The front-panel output control is essential when driving two different radios to their proper ALC levels. The LED level indicators let you adjust all parameters so NOTHING is being over-driven. Julius Jones has thought of everything with these plug-and-play, amateur radio-friendly units, and his customer service is second to none. Quality, reliability, performance, innovation...that's what you get with these units. Oh...did I mention that I like them?? 73, Bob,K7JQ

Phenomenal performance Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Over the years, I've used the W2IHY 2 and 8 band equalizers with very good results. Like many others, I moved on to the "fancy" (expensive) gear ending up with a $10,000 software defined audio system. Talk about overkill! After hearing numerous EQ Plus on the air, I decided to get one and compare it with my over priced system. The EQ+ performance was nothing short of spectacular. When used with the W2IHY 8-band EQ, performance, it is as good as or better than just about anything else out there regardless of price. And, believe me; I’ve tried lots of different devices. In short, there's more equalization range than any ham will ever use, the noise gate and reverb are perfect, and the compressor is the best I've ever used/heard. The W2IHY units are designed for amateur radio use; they are plug_and_play, something you don't get with other commercial gear. And, if the forgoing is not enough, Julius Jones, W2IHY, customer service is truly outstanding. It's no wonder that this product has a perfect score! Incidentally, I used my W2IHY units with no less than 5 rigs. I consistently get reports of "unbelievably good audio" on all rigs when I use Julius's products. Every phone operator should have the 8-band and EQ+ in their shack. It’s that good.

New life for old boat anchors Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased the W2IHY EQ Plus for use with my old Drake TR-7 which I run barefoot. The very first time I used the unit I got an e-mail from the net manager asking what I changed, saying that my audio was beautiful and that it sounded like I was running a lot of power. Since then I have received untold number of unsolicited reports raving about the audio. The audio compressor on the EQ Plus really brings up your average power, without introducing any distortion. Add in the basic EQ function, along with the downward expander to eliminate background noise (a must when you run compression), and you have a great combination for these older rigs that have no audio processing. Just set up your rig to just stay out of ALC and you will sound great.

Loud and Clean Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The Cerwin Vega audio company has a saying. Loud is beautiful if its clean. That pretty much describes the reports I get with the EQ Plus And 8 Band EQ from Julius. I am told my audio just sounds LOUD and very clean on my Orion 1. That sums it up. 73's WB0UGO Steve

Another Satisfied Customer Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have had the EQPlus with the 8 Band Equalizer for about 6 months now and cannot find one complaint. I can't count the number of times I have received un-solicited audio reports on my tranmissions. I really like the compression feature. Compression without distortion. I run an ICOM IC-7800 with the Heil PR-40 microphone. Julius told me with the EQPlus Compression on my 200 watt rig will have the audio of a 600-800 watt tranmitter. I have no way of validatiing this statement, but people do seem to hear me. If you have been contemplating trying W2IHYs equipment, you will not be dissappointed.

EQ PLUS the BEST Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This beauty is the BEST. I get unsolicited reports of my great audio and with a little tweaking on my W2IHY EQ Plus. I use the TenTec Orion with the Heilsound PR-40. This combo works really great.
I highly recommend the PR-40 and the W2IHY EQ Plus for use with the Orion

I use the EQ Plus in conjunction with the W2IHY 8-band EQ and a Heil Goldline or an Electro-Voice RE20 to the Yaesu FT1000 Mark V .The construction and functions of the EQ Plus are excellent. One Box with all was a Ham will need! I have done the FT 1000 Filter Upgrade with the Inrad Filter on the 3rd IF with the 707C with 5.8 KHz and the 2nd IF with the 2.8 KHz Inrad 716-B Filter.
The Sound of this combo with the EQ Plus is excellent. After on the air tests with some Ham’s I get many unsolicited complements of the audio. When the compression is switched on the EQ Plus increases the audio signal with no perceptible distortion and the audio signal has the same bandwidth as without compression.

Really happy with the EQ Plus. Easy to use and a perfect addition to the 8 Band EQ.

Well done Julius. You will get always a 10 for you outstanding Customer Service!!

The 30 day money back no questions asked guarantees says all !!!

Incredible product! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
A couple of monhs ago, I stumbled across an ad for the EQ Plus by W2IHY. Intrigued, I decided to take the plunge and order it. Wow! I am using it with a Yaesu FT 897 and I cannot say enough for what it has done to my on the air audio. People simply won't believe that I am using an 897! Broadcast quality audio without a thousand cables and adapters.

It took about 3-4 phone calls for Julius to get me up and running. And, I cannot say enough about this man's customer service. Phone calls and emails returned almost immediatey, patience and thorough explanations as to operation and installation. If every ham radio supplier utilized these skills, the ham radio world would be a much better place to do business in

Try it! You'll never want to transmit again without it.
