Excellent Equipment Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased the EQ Plus along with the 8 Band Audio Equalizer. I am using it with the Kenwood TS-2000X and the Kenwood MC-90 mic. This combination works better than I ever imagined. I continually get unsolicited comments on the excellent studio quality of my audio on all bands.

The service I recieved from Julius was more than excellent. He shipped my products the same day and I recieved them the next day. He called me personally a few days later to see how I was doing. Then a week later he called back again. I have never experienced this kind of service for anything.

I highly recommend these units to anyone. These are the best additions I have ever made to my ham station. The quality of the products are excellent.

The EQplus by W2IHY: highly recommended. Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Returning to amateur radio in early 2007 after two decades of absence, I had a romantic vision (dream) about getting a small transceiver that I could place out of sight on my computer desk and use occasionally. To fulfill this vision, I ordered a Yaesu FT-897D transceiver with an MD-200 desk microphone; the Collins 500Hz and 2300Hz CW and SSB mechanical filters from W4RT; an outboard S-meter/multimeter from LDG; a GSV3000 power supply from Diamond; a CN-801HP SWR/PWR meter from Daiwa; an HC-200AT automatic antenna tuner from Tokyo Hy-Power and last, but not least, the EQplus from W2IHY.

A few days after I had placed the order for the EQplus, I received a call on my cellular phone on a Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised; it was Julius and his concern was that perhaps I had forgotten to order a cable to connect the EQplus to the 897D. Of course I had and he kindly agreed to add a cable to the order. What excellent customer care!

Well, to make a long story short, I was not happy with the small radio despite the EQplus and all the fine accessories. I thus came to the conclusion that I would not be satisfied with cutting corners, so I sold off the 897D (and most of the accessories) and took a plane down to Germany to visit with one of the large suppliers of ham radio equipment to have a look at radios. During that visit, I purchased a new Icom IC-756PROIII transceiver. In addition to the PROIII, my current setup consists of the HEIL PR 40 dynamic microphone, the W2IHY 8 Band Audio Equalizer and Noise Gate and the W2IHY EQplus.

With this equipment I have achieved my goal of having a “commanding” and clear audio on the air. Prior to attaining this success, I did, admittedly, need to send a few E-mails to Julius and even called him over the phone several times when my frustration was high, with regard to getting the boxes to work like I wanted them to. However, once I managed to push my impatience aside, and started to follow instructions (with a little help from Julius) things started to fall into place. Today I am totally pleased with the W2IHY boxes and they are outstanding with the PR 40 and the PROIII. I get favorable comments in almost every QSO. One British amateur even suggested that I should “glue” the controls on the W2IHY boxes so the settings could not be changed because the audio was the best he had ever heard and it could not possibly be made better...

It is my pleasure to highly recommend the EQplus to all radio amateurs. Do not forget to order the 8 Band Audio Equalizer as well; you will not regret it. Sincere thanks to Julius for his valuable assistance and patience. His customer care is outstanding.

You will love your transmit audio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have 2 (parallel) setups. One a recent pro-audio setup using the behringers etc and the other one is the IHY setup. I bought the IHY boxes first and it was just my quick entry into becoming a full blown audiophile. I get unsolicited compliments atleast several times a day during my DX QSO's. I use this box with the EV-RE20 microphone and it sounds similar and equal or better in quality that the pro-audio setup.
The EQ Plus is an amazing box and I would suggest that you use it with the 8 Band EQ. You will just love it. I love the downward expander that cuts out all the fan and other noises in the shack and feeds a clear processed audio into the transceiver.
I dont think you would ever complain about the IHY boxes and if you are, I would always suggest that you look at your microphone or transceiver. Julius has packed in all the necessary features required for an amateur and I hear these boxes all over the world.
A great product and a very humble manufacturer who cares a lot.

Great Service/ Good unit Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I had several phone cals with Julius. He even returns your messages (very quickly). I was looking for a method of switching between a Heil headset (with electret mike) and a semi-pro dynamic mike for my ICOM 756P3. Julius quickly tried out a method of doing just that with the EQ plus. It worked great. While I am not as impressed as some by the "reverb effects", the equalization and noise gate works great. The slight compression I use with the noise gate really adds punch and intelligibility. The EQ plus really makes several mike sound similar and give your station a better sound. For DX, Contesting, Nets, and Rag Chewing, I think W2IHY speech processors are really a great station accessory. Ed KE3D (ex K3SWJ)

Essential add-on for FT 2000 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Like everyone else I "ditto" the remarks about the product and the customer service/support provided by Julius. He is a "small Nordstrom" if you know what I mean....

I have been using my EQ-Plus with a recently purchased Yaesu FT-2000. The rig is extremly flexible with regard to microphone equalization having a fine parametric equalizer. However, its a ham rig designed like most to work best with ham mics. not professional or broadcast mics. Using an SM58 (Shure) or any professional dynamic mic subject to proximity effect, keeping the modulation high while talking 6-8" from the dyaphragm can be touchy with some form of audio compressor/limiter ahead of the rig. The EQ-plus provides that with simple adjustment. The effects processor (don't laugh until you hear the difference) is a bonus. With a slight single reverb you won't believe how it enhances the articulation of speech. Reports on the air are creating interest with others to buy one. BTW,
with the EQ plus I easily set up the FT-2000 RF compressor to work for DX punch without distorting.... Thanks Julius,

ONE SMALL BOX THAT DOES IT ALL!!!!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This EQplus is absolutely fantastic to say the least. Julius you hit a grand slam on this one. I have owened all the Behringer rack gear including the DEQ-2496 processor, and it's all gone now for one box. I have only had the EQplus for about 2 week and the Audio reports that I have been given compared to the Rack ( by Hams I chat with regularly ) using the same mike and radio are to say the least astounding. The EQplus cannot in my opnion be beat by any other audio processing gear.

Smart investment for great audio Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchased the EQplus soon after it was first released and glad I did.

Works great, I get great audio reports, it's easy to setup and use and doesn't take up much space. W2IHY makes cables to interface to what ever radio I want to use.

I had a whole rack of audio gear that takes up lots of space, mic mixer, preamp, Behringer gear etc. No longer, the EQplus does all that I need and now I have room to stack more radios in my shack :)

After using the W2IHY 8 Band Audio Equalizer / Noise Gate and the Ibox Amateur Audio Interface Box from W2IHY I had no concerns ordering the EQplus.

Looking forward to adding the new W2IHY Iplus to my shack when it comes out this fall.

Provides Audio Gold Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I was using Julius' two band EQ with my Icom 756 Pro III, but decided to upgrade, at Julius suggestion, to the EQ+. If the two band EQ was good, the EQ+ is excellent. Used in conjunction with the compression circuitry of the Pro III I have been able to set up a terrific "rag chew audio", as well as a setting for DX and "pile-ups". The powers of the EQ+ can not be overstated.
With it, you can tailor your audio to any situation. If you are wondering if I returned the two band EQ, I did not . It now is used with my Kenwood TS-930 and a Kenwood MC-60 microphone.

Now, what does Julius have for my Drake TR-4C?

Oh yes, due to a mis-communication on my part, I was sent the wrong interface cable for my Kenwood. I sent Julius an email and he called me within 10 minutes (on a Saturday!!!!!). How is that for customer service. A new cable was sent and arrived on Monday.

Can't wait to see the next product developed by W2IHY.

As great as its inventor! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Last year, during one of our nightly 2 meter nets, I pleasantly surprised the group with modulation of such professional-sounding quality that everyone KNEW I had done something, but what? Purchased a new rig? Added a new microphone? Perhaps both?

What I DID do was add the EQplus to my system. After that news-flash, everyone congratulated me for "coming up in the world." The EQplus combined with the Heil GM-4 or Classic 4 are my weapons of choice for taking-on the FM as well as the HF crowds.

When asked for technical information concerning the EQplus during that same 2 meter net, I replied that the person best suited to give answers on that scale would have to be the EQplus's inventor himself - Julius D. Jones.

Within 1 minute, a telephone call was placed to Mr. Jones and phone-patched directly into our 2 meter net. Everyone took turns greeting him and then he cheerfully answered all questions about the EQplus. Then he and I began to tweak MY EQplus as he gave me instructions and listened to my modulation the best he could long distance from New York to California via our 2 meter net phone-patch! How many inventors would do that for their customers?

All-in-all, it turned-out to be quite an interesting and unique net that evening - thanks to Mr. Jones and his EQually great EQplus!
