Poor sound and lack comfort. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
These 'phones are not particularly comfortable and have an unpleasant boxy sound. Construction quality is good, but badly let down by the sound quality that is very fatiguing to listen to for any length of time over a few minutes! They may be OK for occasional use if you can pick some up for next to nothing, the new price is ridiculously high. Otherwise you are far better off with mid-priced stereo headphones, such as the Sony MDR-V150, that are far better at pulling out weak DX from the band noise and have the advantage of sounding good for music too.

Good at the right price Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just bought a pair for £2.00 at a car boot sale. Need a bit of a clean but are working fine. Not the most comfortable of phones I have used but I think they are good at what they are meant for. Have used them in the past for contests and would not recommend long periods of use.

Not bad, but to heavy Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Nice headphones, but to heavy. Sound is ok, but if you wear them for some time you have wet ears ;)

Good Buy! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I Bought a pair of YH-55's at Dayton in 2004 for $10. They looked like they had never been used. They sounded good in mono but I rewired them for stereo on my 1000-D and plugged them in. They sound great for either CW or SSB. Excellent freqency response.
Only drawback: Very tight fitting but they do seal out ambient noise better that way.
If you find a nice pair for a reasonable price buy them.

old but good ! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
These are old "phones but have stood the test of time well.sound good, and well built. i have in fact put newer earpads on and a padded part on the headband for more comfort.and i like them so much i have got another pair for spares i suppose these must date from the "70s or "80s but if you see a pair snap em up!
