Old, but still going good (somewhat) Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
These are solid radios, but can only do CSQ unless you can fund a rare tone board for it. never unscrew the antenna terminal at the top because the lead will easily break off and is a pain to solder back on. On the positive side it will allow you to make your on scan list in the field and scans at a decent rate. My LCD has leaked on the left a bit due to age but the screen still works and all characters are still visible. It does put out a good solid 5 watts and has an excellant receiver and audio.

If you do buy one, get another for parts.

Old & heavy, but works well enough Time Owned: more than 12 months.
What can you say, these things are getting a bit old, are heavy, and probably not that rugged, despite the cast alloy frame. Parts are now hard to come by. With age, the LCD screen on top will begin to leak.
But, tempering this is that they are reliable enough, and perform OK. The audio is very easy to listen to.
Not too many features, scan (user selectable channels), priority, and CTCSS.
EPROM driven by a (now hard to find) 2716, officially was only a 24 channel radio, but you can squeeze in 25. Channel numbers can be given from 1 to 64 though.
