Spot On Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Icom have done a great job with this radio. I wanted something with an Auto ATU and DSP. I also wanted to run the radio from the lighter socket of the car and a "power cube battery pack". Also by using the remote cable kit, it possible to sit outside the car with the display, mic and speaker mounted on a board, and just one cable feeding back to the rig. The on air report are very good, most stations find it hard to believe that I am running just 10 watts.I used to own an FT817 but much prefer the IC-703

Surprised Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I received this RIG 2 weeks ago and I was really surprised. The tuner works very fine and the menu system and handling of this tiny thing is a breeze and very intuitive. I have the 500 hz Filter installed (the filters are far overprized!) and CW-operation is a lot of fun now. I also like the AM-receive. Just a pitty that there is no built in batterypack like in the FT-817. I have both, the FT-817ND and the IC-703 and would not like to miss them. The IC-703 is better to handle and "more radio", but the FT-817 is more versatile.

Fantastic Little Transceiver Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have been meaning to add my experience of this little transceiver here for a while now. It is my first radio and it took a while to get use to the menus but having done so I can say that I have been truly impressed by its performance. As an M3 foundation licence holder in the UK, I am limited to 10W max and this fits the bill. I had considered the others but I'm pleased to have purchased this one secondhand.

what fun! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I operate qrp when I'm away from my home QTH in NYC and have had the HW 7 the HW 8 and then the Index Labs QRP+ so I thought it was time to try a modern rig. I LOVE this little radio! I've been working all over the world from my little island in the middle of Long Island Sound - no electricity; just a gel cell and Hustler 4BTV. I love the internal tuner and keyer and after being a little concerned about the complexity of the menus I found them to be really user friendly. I'm having a blast!

Great Rig Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I bought this rig used from its original owner who had it for 14 months. The original owner had done no mods on the rig and had no problems with the rig. I have had the rig for 6 months now and all the recommended mods have been performed. This is the HF only model that was clearanced out by dealers for $399.95. I have had no problems with the rig and I've had a ball using it. This little rig has a fantastic receiver and I'm amazed at what you can do with just a few watts. I loaned it to a friend and he finished 2nd in the USA in the NA-Sprint SSB QRP with it. This rig is a keeper!

Very Nice Rig! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This rig is very nice. The internal tuner is a great thing. If they come out with a version that adds 2M and 70CM then I'll trash my FT-897.

3 years trouble-free! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought the hf-only model used in '03.
Early on, experienced the xmtr driver FET failure.
Ordered 2 parts from Icom...received them very quickly...replaced the bad part myself...no further problems! Keeping that second FET nearby, just in case :O)
Now using the '703 with the Ten-Tec 1208 xvtr and having a ball on six meters too!
The IC-703 & AH-4 tuner are an unbeatable combo, IMO.

Still tickin' Time Owned: more than 12 months.
IC-703+ Have had over a year and works great! This radio has been used as base, portable, and now mobile. I have taken great care of this rig. It doesn't even have a single scratch on it. Good audio, decent DSP, good auto antenna tuner and great receiver!

YI/WD8CRT FB Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Love this radio so much I took it to Iraq with me! I own a HF only version. I did perform the bias check (and reset it) and also the grounding problem with the keyer.

Used it on Kwajalein Atoll (V73NS) for portable operations at the beach on days it was too nice to sit in the shack. 300+ QSO's

Hauled it to the US for FD 2005 and ran 40CW with it.

Hauled it to Iraq (YI/WD8CRT - YI9NS) and made 2,200 QSO's with it.

LOVE IT!

Good job! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Is passed 1 year and more of 300 qso after my firs post, i want leave my opinion about this nice qrp. My transistor power never blow up, mounted Collins CW filter of W4RT Electronics, it work very well. Tested rig in portable operation and the tuner work very well with my balun 1:4 and the fishing rod. The reciver is very excellent with his DSP unit.
I Love this little rig.
