3 out of 3 failed Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My first antenna had a base coil fail after 1 year. Diamond was kind enough to take a look at it & replace the antenna. Only 50W/2M & 35W/70cm.
After 3 Months the replacement failed. Again Diamond was good enough to replace the base coil.
In the meantime I purchaced a Commet CA-2x4SR & used it for a year. I then decided to put the Diamond back on my car. Guess what happened after about a year. Well SWR doesn't match on 2M anymore. I put the Commet back on & everything is fine. I give the antenna 0 but I have to give Diamond some credit for the customer service I received. Thats why I gave the rating of 2. I may not buy another Diamond antenna again base or mobile. Time will tell.

Best mobile antenna on market Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had my two antennas (trunk lip mount)since 1992 in over 180,000 miles of driving. I keep them clean and good shape and never had a problem with them. They have been in all sorts of emergency conditions, climate and geography and have worked flawlessly over HAM and CAP use.
I wished Diamond had a similar antenna for 6 meters. Only problem was the coax got pinched and changed the SWR. Replaced the coax and all worked well. Great antenna for the price.

Worked for me Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I used the chrome version of this antenna as my base antenna, mounted on an eight foot aluminum tube attached to a chimney. After a year of exposure to NE Wisconsin weather I took it down to upgrade to a Diamond X50A. Upon inspection, the NR770H looked like new, and I found no corrosion or wear of any sort. I was impressed.

One other thing--I didn't bother with a ground plane in that installation (yeah, I should have), and I had no trouble getting into all the repeaters I wanted to hit. I'm sure a ground plane would have helped, especially on 70 cm, but the antenna held up and performed flawlessly.

Works fine for me. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had the NR-770HA version (with a K400C mount) on a 1992 Jeep Wrangler for over a year and have never experienced any problems with it. The mount is attached to the metal spare tire "bumper", on the back passenger side corner. As such it gets a lot of rain/snow splash buildup. But after a year of that kind of treatment it's still working just fine.

I only use this antenna for 2m so I can't comment on UHF, but I routinely check it with my antenna analyzer and it consistently shows me an almost negligble SWR at the frequency I've cut it for.

Just bought and installed the same antenna and mount for my other vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup. Wouldn't have done that if I hadn't had good results with the Jeep installation.

Great Performance, Very reliable Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned my NR770HBNMO for well over 3 years now. It has provided flawless service throughtout this period.

The stated gain is 3.0 / 5.5 on 2m / 70cm respectively. The performance is exceptional with a standard 5/10/25/50w mobile that I have used with it. I have been able to make it into repeaters full quieting in areas that a 1/4 wave mag mount would not even bring up a repeater.

THe tilt over feature is handy mounted on our minivan allowing us to park the van in the gargae without diconnecting the antenna.

I puerchased a second one for a base backup and occasional use on our other car. I would not hesitate in recommendeding this antenna to anyone wanting a reliable and well perfming antenna.

I'll also note that there are a host of mounting options from mag mount, roof rackk, to door and trunk lip mounts. For those looking for an ever more presitious mount, you can use a motorized fold down mount as well with this antenns.

Poor to Awful - Short 3 Month Life... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Purchased this medium gain, open mid-span coil, dual band antenna just 3 months ago. After only a couple thousand miles on a pickup roof NMO hole mount, the antenna developed a matching problem at the 50 watts VHF and 35 watts UHF power levels -- the VSWR climbed after only a few seconds of RF applied. In fact, it took out the PA in my rig!

Actually, I am back to running my trusty standby mobile antenna that I have had for many years, a dual band, closed coil, Larsen. It doesn't fret with RF applied to it. If you're interested, both antennas share(d) the same, new NMO mount.

Actually, the Diamond was sleek and useful with its tilt-over feature, but it just didn't hold up at all. I will go back to buying American antennas, and skip these less-than-perfect imitations, and the headaches. 73.
