Great AMP Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This is a great amp! What a breeze to tune. Just center the LEDs and you are set. Now that I have had it awhile, it takes about 5 seconds to tune. It could not be easier. And if you mess something up, or forget to change the band switch, the amp protects itself from your own mistakes. I easily put out around 700 watts which is plenty to reach anything, I only run a dipole and not a Yagi, and the guys with Yagis are always surprised at the great, strong signal coming out of a dipole. If you buy one of these, you won't be dissapointed.

Compact and perfect Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Hi Folks:

Last July we had the WRTC2006 in Florianopolis – Brazil.
For the first time we had such fantastic event in South Hemisphere.
We had 36 countries represented in the event on 46 stations spread over the State of Santa Catarina in Brazil.
All equal setups using the ACOM 1010 linear amplifier specially supplied by ACOM for the event.
The equipment really work fantastically and the competitors where happy and surprise with the performance of the linear.
The success was so great, that all the hosts decided to keep and buy those linears.
I operated for a while and I think is the perfect equipment for DX-Pedition.
Thanks to ACOM for the fb support.

A little beauty Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Just to add my few words. I bought my 1010 November 2005 from Vine Antenna Products (01691 831111 - UK).Absolutely delighted with it but was initially very disappointed with the noisy fan.
However, after consulting Ron at Vine Antenna Products, within a week ACOM produced a simple resistor mod which I easily fitted and lo behold a much quieter and satisfactory amplifier.
This mod is now fitted as standard.
I love the small size and relative portability of this unit.

ACOM 1010 - noisy fan Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
A good amplifier! Would have given 5 points if there was not the awful screaming noisy fan.
Compared the sound level of two amplifiers in the same location at the same distance of 30 cm

ACOM 1010...............: 51,0 dBA
Linear AMP - Ranger 811H: 48,2 dBA

(Measurements taken with sound meter SPM 100 from ELV with an accuracy of +- 1 dB)

Most disturbing is the frequency of the fan noise (sounds somehow like damaged bearings). A longer standby operation without headphones is nerve-racking!

Great ACOM quality in a portable amp Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have been using the 1010 for a couple of weeks now, and wanted to jump in with initial impressions since there aren't many reviews out there.

The web site is http://www.hfpower.com/ and MSRP as of April, 2006 is $2,340. Delivery is from Massachusetts - friendly and efficient.

I bought this unit since it is relatively portable and provides just enough extra power for out-of-town operation. I opened it up to perform the 120V power conversion - very easily done with a couple of PCB jumpers, and there are a lot of taps to match your voltage precisely. The unit looked like it was built by a Swiss watchmaker, extremely good quality! It looks good outside, too, like a piece of Hi-Fi equipment.

Tuning is very simple, a matter of seconds with some intelligently designed LED's. The Tune/Load settings are practically independent. It is also very forgiving, with automatic safety switchoff circuits. Another reviewer noted that the bandswitch is fairly heavy, which to me is good showing extra robustness. Note also that it goes straight into operation upon power-up, rather than standby, which just needs getting used to.

I actually measured maximum continuous power as nearly 600W on my unit on RTTY - although of course I would recommend about half that for any period of time. All components, especially the tube, are over-rated for this power so I expect it to last a while. Another plus that is not well advertised is that QSK is very smooth using the bandswitch outputs from my FT-1000MP; and practically silent without the FT's relay.

Considering build quality, ease of use, ruggedness and the components used I regard this as a very good buy. I recommend it for base station use, too, since 500W is often plenty extra power in practice with a good antenna.

good Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have the 1010 now since a couple of month an overall very satisfied with the amplifier.
It is very lightweight what is very good for portable use and easy to tune what is very good for quick Band change.
The only thing I complain is that the Antenna switch is only working if the Power is switched on. I have two Antenna and if you would like to listen only to the Bands you have to switch the Amp. on and for listen only the Fan is definitive to noisy. I have no comparison to the ACOM 1000 what should by very silent but the 1010 is definitive louder than my FT-920 and the ICOM IC-706 MKII. At home I use an external antenna switch and during portable I like the internal switch what make a external switch in many cases needless.
At full output the transformer grumble a bit what look to me that the transformer is at its limit.

low price 600W Acom quality Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I use now this Amp up to 3 month, buy at vinecom UK, first impression was good, hardness to turn knobs and band selector was appreciable,
turn on after the 150s of warm up tuning procedure was complete with fluency, del system indicate if you are correctly tuned good to keep a maximum efficacy if you move on the band,

In use, first time with low power for tube running in, my Acom 1010 work well, not bad noise level with around 10db gain, the led bar-graph was accurate, just one comment at the end of warm up time, he switch in OPER mode automaticly if you are in qso during this time it was necessary to press OPER to back in stand by mode again, be careful

output power around 750W on 20m,
dont want having the full output during few hours, the transformer was a 1200va not the 2200va of the ACOM 1000, but having 500-600w is a moderate utilisation the tube is a 4cx800 no problem.

About the protection you have 4 del for Gird 1, 2, IP (Plate) and Fault,( also possible to read this current, in service mode, press OPER and RTTY) he shift to stand by and back to operate after a big fault, RTTY button reduce power, two antenna could be connected A1-A2.
a boardband input circuit assure 1/1 anywhere.

This model replace my FL 2100 Z
