Excellent work at a fair price. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I sent my Kenwood TS-870S to Amateur Radio Service (ARS) because a control knob was broken. I was also considering having more work done on the rig but wasn’t sure what was necessary and what wasn’t. We had to email back and forth a few times before I decided on exactly what I wanted done. As evidenced by my rating, the work was performed and I am extremely pleased with the results. I would recommend Bud Garside’s shop to anyone. I would not hesitate to send gear to his shop again. He responds to email within a reasonable time. I don’t expect him to hover over his email account and answer instantly; I would rather he be working on my broken gear. The prices are as good if not better than the competition. I trust this shop to fix gear correctly, and to do it the first time they work on it.

Bud did a wonderful job on getting my 930SAT finals replaced. He is full of information when you get stuck and provides it. Great rates, and friendly service.

Fast, Fair & Affordable Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bud knows the obscure facts to the radios he has worked on for me which include a VX5-R, FT-817, and IC-706MK IIG. He also sells great reconditioned equipment that he has thouroughly gone through. His engineering background helps with the more arcane issues and he knows how to get action from the vendors.

Bud is a very skilled radio repair guy. He will repair any radio and is also well versed in repairing amps. He is very friendly, honest and very resonable as far as pricing. I Will utilize Bud's services in the future. Highly recommended.

The BEST! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Finally... a REAL Amateur Radio repair center located here on the West Coast that really knows how to service ALL makes and types of Amateur gear! My Yaesu FT1000MP made several trips to the factory for repair of a PLL problem, to no avail. I was ready to give up and junk it when a friend recommended ARS. I called and spoke with Bud Garside, the owner. Bud said he would fix the problem, guarantee the work, and quoted me a 2 week leadtime. I sent him the radio via UPS & 10 days later I received a call that it was fixed! It now operates perfectly, better than it ever has! I was so pleased with the level of expertise, VERY reasonable prices and excellent service I sent ARS my Kenwood TS690S/AT for an alignment and some audio enhancements they recommended. Bud is very knowledgeable, friendly and a real pleasure to deal with, I highly recommend Amateur Radio Service for all radio repair work!

Superb Service! Time Owned: N.A.
Recently, Amateur Radio Service (ARS) serviced my Yaesu FT-101ZD, which I had acquired on eBay last year. When I bought the rig, it was in excellent cosmetic shape and worked well enough to use on a regular basis, but had a number of irritating problems which I could not correct because I lacked the necessary test and service equipment. I met Bud Garside, the owner of ARS, at a hamfest this spring and decided to have my FT-101ZD serviced by him. To avoid the high shipping costs the heavy rig would incur, I personally delivered my rig to Bud several weeks later. I was very impressed by his well-equipped service shop and by his broad and deep knowledge of electronics and amateur radio. He said he would complete the work in a week to 10 days, which is exactly what he did. When I picked up my rig from him, he reviewed the details of what he had done, and put my rig through its paces to demonstrate how well it now performed. The cost of the service was very reasonable. Bud was very friendly and professional throughout our interactions and responded promptly to my e-mails. My FT-101ZD works superbly now; it’s like having a brand new rig. I recommend ARS unconditionally and with great enthusiasm!
