Excellent transceiver Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have the MB-40a rig, but in the past I have had the MB-80a. I found that the 80a drifted somewhat, but the 40a is as steady as a rock. I. Paid $50 for the 40a at a radio club meeting. What a bargain! It came complete with a couple of spare finals and a spare driver! This wee rig has a very nice received tone, is as ugly as a used brick and I wouldn't sell it! They are not too common here in Oz, but if you find one, them don't hesitate, you won't be sorry.

Great rig for it's time Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought mine in 1975, new in the box. I thought this would make a great mobile rig. Can't say I used it much mobile. It was my first solid state rig. I compare it to my FT-950 in receive mode and for the price I paid for it, not bad. I remember something like $300 in 1975.
No bells or whistles just volume, mic gain, SSB/CW switch & a tuning knob. No issues and still going strong after 41 years. Can't beat that!
