Great Vertical Antenna Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Although I have unlimited space and would prefer a tower and beam, I decided to be practical and go with a vertical antenna instead. After doing my research I decided on a 43 ft Zero Five. I talked to the owner, Tom, and he was very helpful. The antenna was easy to install and was very well constructed. I installed over 60 ground radials. My only concern was my SWR was very high and my LDG auto tuner was of no help. I followed Toms advise and purchased a Palstar AT-2K tuner. Problem solved. I have been using the antenna for over 6 months and I am extremely happy. If I can hear a station I can talk to them.

High Performance Vertical Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had this vertical from Zero Five for 2 years and it has performed very well. Tom has always been responsive to answering email and returning phone calls. The antenna was packed well and the instructions are available on their website for assembly. Check my QRZ page for a few pictures. I would recommend this vertical antenna from Zero Five. 73's

Zero Five 43' 3 antenna Phased Array Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using one of Tom's 43' multi-band antennas as a backup to my Windom dipole for many years, as many have stated the quality and workmanship of Zero-Five is un-surpassed. The antenna has always performed flawlessly. Living in SE Virginia we have extremely high winds, salt water spray, hurricane force winds, etc.
I ran across some paperwork done by Bell Labs looking for a project to piddle with with the Covid lockdown stuff here in Virginia, Bell Labs hypothetically mathed out the equations for using two or three verticals in a phased array to generate Bi-Directional patterns and/or uni-directional cardioid patterns. I purchased two more of Tom's 43' antennas and set them 1/4^/@ 80 Meters in a equilateral triangle.
If you walked out and looked at my antennas right now you cannot tell the difference between the three antenna's! The quality, finish, and construction are unbelievable. I thought at best I might get seven or eight years out of a vertical when I first started looking at the various antenna manufacturers products and your reviews, there is no doubt in my mind that short of having a Hurricane land on our front porch these antenna's will out survive me they are that good! 73's

Great Antenna (27' HOA) Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have had this antenna on the air for a mere 5 days now and am thoroughly impressed with just well it performs. I have become 'addicted' to POTA lately and have made over 60 QSO's mostly on 40m. I have also made 80m QSO's in the evening with no problems what-so-ever. Throughout the contacts I have received high signal reports even though the bands have been pretty terrible of late.
I am using an ICOM IC-7100 transceiver with an LDG 100 Pro II tuner running 100 watts and the tuner matches the SWR's perfectly.
The antenna is super easy to assemble and can easily be raised into position solo with the fold-over mechanism that comes with the antenna. The most intensive job of my installation was the addition of twenty, 27 foot radials (I buried these in a circular pattern as I awaited delivery of the antenna and unun).
Customer service is excellent as Tom answers your questions and concerns very quickly.
I haven't experienced any stormy weather as yet but I feel the antenna will withstand winds and weather nicely as it is constructed very well.
I would highly recommend this antenna!

43’ multi band vertical

I’m a relatively new Ham operator with limited space for antennas. I have turned to eham.net for reviews when making most of my equipment decisions. This antenna purchase was no different.

A fellow Ham operator on a rag chew I frequent recommended I consider this antenna. I was looking for a versatile vertical DX antenna which could be easily lowered during the typical Florida weather events.

I read many of these positive reviews. Most commented on the quality and customer service. I found that to be extremely accurate. Tom has been great about answering and returning my calls. He has taken the time to answer all of my questions.

The antenna arrived in a timely manner as promised. The un-un arrived right after. Installation was simple and raising and lowering the antenna is a breeze.

I went with 4 ground rods and 13 43’ ground radials. The antenna is easily tunable with my NyeViking MB-V-A.

Once the antenna was up, I immediately made contacts in Calgary Canada and Italy. Both stations had a pile of operators trying to get through.

I am very happy with this purchase and can’t thank Tom enough.

Zero-Five 43' vertical - Fantastic Vertical Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I installed the Zero-Five 43' vertical antenna in January and wanted to give it some time before writing an honest and accurate review.

QTH: North Texas, EM12. No HOA

Preface: This is a 43' long vertical antenna. Folded over will take up the width of a typical US backyard. At least 16 radials are required and a tuner at the operating position.

Pre-Work: In order for the antenna to fold over, in the corner of my yard I dug a 40" deep hole, filled with 4" of gravel, 4x 36" rebar pieces, a 5' long 2" diameter water pipe, filled with 6000psi concrete encapsulated by a 10" concrete tube form. To insure the water pipe doesn't move, I drilled out (2) 1/2" holes 18" apart from the bottom and fastened a 6" carriage bolt through each hole. This sat and cured for 1 month.
I then connected a custom 6awg copper radial ring with 34-14awg radial wires, varying in length from 10 ft to 30 ft as the size of my backyard restricted.
I connected the radial ring to the antenna base plate and to an 8' copper ground rod that was placed 12" from the water pipe. I ran 6awg copper wire from that ground rod to another ground rod at the home entrance, tied to a lightning arrestor. I ran RG213 coax through conduit along the ground wire path.

Antenna Build: The whole antenna came packed neatly in a 4' long box. I attached the base plate to the water pipe and loosened the top bolt to tilt over. I painted on a few inches of Penetrox to the end of each tubing piece and began sliding the tubing pieces one-by-one. Slide the next tube to the black mark and tighten the hose clamp - rinse and repeat the whole way down.
Before raising the antenna, I would level and plumb the square base plate attached at the water pipe, and tighten those bolts good and tight.
I raised the antenna and then attached the 4:1 transformer and coax.

Results: Within an hour of unboxing, I had the antenna assembled, raised and listening to the world. My 7300 tuned flat from 6-40m. My first phone contact was 1500 miles away on 50 watts. On FT8, I've been able to work Australia to South Africa.

Notes: This antenna is tall, and it works beautifully. After assembly, I spraypainted from a few inches above the insulator to the tip a flat light-grey. From the front yard you can see the antenna but it blends in well.

DO NOT guy this antenna. Its strength comes from its flexibility. It is rated to 92 MPH winds and while it's not come close yet, it has survived 30 MPH winds and the Texas Snowmegeddon of 2021. It will flex and dance in the wind but just make sure the u-bolts around the water pipe are nice and tight, level and plumb.
With that said, the whole antenna is aircraft aluminum and the Delrin insulator at the base is rated to a breaking strength of +12K psi. Tom assured me it won't break under normal conditions and that it would be replaced if in the rare event it did.
I would recommend lowering this well in advance of a thunderstorm. As a test, I was able to safely lower the antenna in under 30 seconds.

As this is my first HF antenna, I couldn't be more pleased. Our lot size is nothing to write home about so the only antenna that fit my needs was a vertical. After a few months of reading reviews and watching several install videos, I went with the Zero-Five 43' vertical and can't recommend it enough.

If you're looking for a multi-band vertical, made in the USA, looks and works great - look no further.

10-40 vert Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
just been using for a few days during bad conditions
but worked stations from Hawaii to Russia down to south Africa... tunes on all band 1.2 or lower state side all reports good so now i'm gonna put some radials down and ill return to update after a month or so....build quality could not ask for anything better and tilt base is some serious quality....

I am Buying a Second one Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I recently moved from Florida and was extremely active with an Emcomm group. My goal was to offer out of area digital communication. My solution was a ZeroFive. I am not deed restricted, but the vertical fit my profile. I now have 26 Winlink MPS users, and can reliably report that the vertical is doing the job. I put in 16 50 foot radials.

I recently purchased an IC-7100 and purchased another ZeroFive.

27 ft zero five Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I live in a town house ,tried five different antenna's by far the zero five works the best ! the quality is superb ! the service with Tom is out standing ! roof mounted with 2 50ft. of #8 strand wire, 2 8ft ground rods on each side of building.( simple fast installtion )If you have antenna issues give tom a call, you will be happy that you did. 27 foot vertical that works !
