Bob Grinnell Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Hi i recently came across their website and was happy I did. I couldn't believe all the unique hard to find parts to choose from. I so happened to come across a ad Bob had up looking for a johnson viking matchbox for his museum. I contacted Bob and explained I had one and other equipment including a Collins power supply, 4 Bird 7441 coaxial switches, 4 Alpha Delta B series switches and some Tube transistors and I was willing to sell. I live in SC and I wanted this equipment to go somewhere it would be appreciated and also not try to low ball me. I sent him the equipment for a closer look and he and I agreed on a trade.
As for a review so far he has been quick to respond appeared honest and informative. I would recommend surplus sales of Nebraska for hard to find electronics.

Very customer oriented, super service! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
They helped me with goods that are not available here in DL or only under great circumstances. The processing and contact was friendly, fast and reliable. If necessary, I would order there again at any time.

It is true that you get there the hard to find parts from one hand. I'm thankful that there is such a store with this fine assortment.

Still A Wonderful Experience Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Some years ago I started purchasing major radio
construction pieces at SSON, and can easily say
there has never been any disasters between us.

Several years ago I wrote a review about SSON and I needed to "refresh the page."

Most recently it was necessary to acquire some large
ceramic radio insulator jobbies. These are not hobbyist
items and are not hobbyist-rated, but rather designated
for the highest RF Power in the most severe circumstances,
and this time I only needed four pieces (CPP 81013A). SSON
normally ships these in tiny wooden crates, they being ceramic,
but as usual I asked they not be crated, just to see how SSON
would treat them. I was not disappointed. They came wrapped
in cardboard tubes, then wrapped in short-order bubble, then
stuffed into small cardboard boxes, then these bubble-wrapped
and fitted into the SSON signature cardboard shipper. Absolutely
no movement allowed, and absolutely no damage or dings anywhere.

On close inspection, each of these insulators weigh slightly different,
which indicates to me these are hand-made, and by skilled craftsmen.

Their average weight is 1106 grams each, (39.033 ounces), with less
than one ounce difference throughout. Now for something clearly
hand-crafted that says much. Add to this the fact of their sitting around
since Who-Knows-When and we are just plain lucky a business like
SSON is on the face of this planet.

Lastly, when a carton of merchandise arrives here from SSON, I know
to sharpen my Boy Scout knife because opening a sealed SSON box
is a chore, albeit a pleasant one. One of the specialist categories SSON is famous for is precision resistors. I've built some commercial category RF Power Amplifiers and finding items like Anode Glitch Resistors for tubes that have handles might be daunting, but SSON had them, right on the shelf: Exactly what was needed, and wrapped in paper-lined with lead, to boot.

So yes, I'm very happy with my shopping experience over the longest time period, with SSON, and hopefully I will be able to continue as their customer for as long as I build radios.

Surplus Sales is Poor Sales Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Needs new Website ! Customer beware! Great Product display and descriptions, seriously lacking in Website. Never received Transaction copy via Email-- likewise, never confirmed Transaction. Only after sending a personal Email to Jim Frankland and him then sending me via Email my Order confirmation/Customer Number/Order Number did I discover on the Email received Transaction page that my Billing Address was changed to be the same as my Shipping Address-- which I had previously typed in correctly on the Website. BEWARE--This Website is not designed for Internet Ordering-- which is really odd because, they don't have a Showroom and all of the Purchasing IS done on line. And, the transaction Email I received from Jim Frankland doesn't show shipping changes ?? I found out the Shipping charge by calling my Bank ! Beware-- Here is a Company that doesn't inform the Customer of the Shipping charge on the Credit Card Transaction final page/printout -and- be prepared to Email Surplus Sales to find out Your total cost including Shipping !! Buyer Beware !! Recommendation: Check DX ENGINEERING for in-stock Products FIRST !

Bad experience after many years of business... Time Owned: N.A.
All I have to say is "wow". I've been purchasing from Surplus Sales of Nebraska for many years. I called to *politely* inquire about several manuals I needed and whether they could be shipped via media mail to reduce shipping costs. I was told from Don (Dan?) and I quote exactly "if you think you can find it cheaper, go buy it from Wal-Mart." Not sure what I said or did to receive that response, but that ended our relationship!

I like them. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I ordered some ceramic dog bone antenna insulators from them. I had read all of the negative reviews and was somewhat reluctant to order, so this was a "test" order. Everything came in quickly and the items were packed perfectly. And WOW! What a big beautiful set of insulators. And to top it off, I received an email asking me if I was satisfied! These folk are okay in my book.

Do not care for Customers Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I service Collins 30L-1's and buy sets of 811A's all the time. Well after buying these Tubes for many years from Bob at Surplus Sales I have to say that these folks have now become very negative to work with. After buying a large number of Cetron 811A's from them I had two of them in different sets burn up right after plugging them in. After calling there they replaced one tube for free and then I had another set go bad and they refused to do any more after this second set.

This week Surplus Sales sent out a $100 discount buy email and I sent them a message that I would like to know what the discount would be on a set of 811A's at $150.

First they tell me that since I had all of these troubles with the 811A's they would no longer sell me any more tubes.

Be aware of these guys even if they are the only source left to buy parts that you may need.
