An Expensive Gadget but Handy Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I was browsing the Hamtronics website and came across this little item on sale. It's a single frequency receiver tuned to WWV 10 megahertz. It was available factory wired in an enclosure with wall wart for $119.99 plus shipping. On a lark, I ordered it and got it in about 5 days. I've used WWV for at least 40 years using a variety of receivers. This little baby is hot. Using a piece of test lead wire as an antenna, WWV came booming into the shack.

Pro:

small size
very sensitive
2 controls: off/on + volume

Con

The wall wart is hard wired into the enclosure and the power wire runs through a hole in the aluminum case. Why not a power jack or at least use a grommet in the hole. I won't be moving it around much but it just looks cheap/amateurish.

The antenna connection on the rear is a BNC. Who the hell keeps BNC connectors around? Not me. I managed to dig up a BNC/SO 239 adaptor out of the junk box to connect a longer antenna. It should be UHF connector from the factory or maybe even a binding post for a random wire.

It's a lot of money for a limited use item.
