Works with either a 28 or 54 MHz rig, depending on wiring Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Ditto what N3JBH said.

It should be noted that the SB-500 could be assembled to work with a 28-32 MHz IF using an SB-102 or HW-101, or if one chose, with a 50-54 MHz IF using an SB-110 or SB-110A. You can determine which way it was set up by a quick inspection with the cover off. On the printed circuit furthest to the rear there are places for two metal can coils. If the coils are there, it is wired for the SB-110 series 6-meter rigs.

Given the proper band set-up, the SB-500 is plug & play with the SB-110, SB-102, or HW-101. It will also work with HW-100, SB-101, and SB-301/SB-401 combinations, but these transceivers will need some modifications to accept the SB-500.

a great vintage setup Time Owned: more than 12 months.
these make great 2 meter ssb units. add one these to your sb-110 and jion the ssb/cw fun on vhf.
after a warm up the become very stable and have some of the hottest ears around.
while i like my yaesu ft-847 for vhf work. there isnt nothing that beat's using this old gear for the wow and fun factor. and when you toss in a good tube amp and nice stacked array yehaaaa now your talking
