Nice Rich Sound Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Finally made the switch from Heil to a regular studio microphone. I went by the Guitar Center and found this microphone on sale for $99.00. The sales folks took this microphone and several other higher priced units into their studio for me to test the sound and performance.

The large 1.1” capsule condenser microphone cartridge makes the microphone housing a bit larger than the $300-$500 dollar units but the price is right. Sound is rich and with a full range response from 20Hz-18KHz. The low frequency response is wonderful. The internal large diaphragm really brings the lows to life. I have the unit balanced on a boom arm and is connected through a Pre-Sonus Mike preamp. The microphone has a FET preamp and requires a Phantom voltage for excitation. This bias voltage is supplied by the Pre-Sonus.

After replacing my GM-5 Heil, several of my regular contacts including Tyler, KAØKA, said the audio was much improved. This one looks like a keeper. Rear microphone connector is a XLR female.
