Very usable combination Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The IC-M3 comes in a few versions like US, Dutch and Canadian. This has to do with the number of channels and the possibility for AATIS.

I got the US version. The HT is programmable with software and a standard Icom clone cable. Look at www.mods.dk for the description of how to change the software when it doesn't work.

I give it a 4 and not a 5 because they forgot to put in subaudio carrier for repeaters. Second, the antenne is bad so you have to put in a BNC connector which is very easy to do.

It receives and transmits quite good with the new antenna so it must be a good choice for those who own a boat and want to monitor some HAM VHF channels.
