Gone with the wind... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
It was a blustery day in the hundred acre wood today and I was in a bit more of a rush than usual...free hamburgers and hot dogs at the motorcycle dealership, you see...

I was running 75-80 mph and the wind was gusting to 20 mph... as I glanced in the rear view I saw my roof mounted RuffRider Hyper Gain antenna bounce off the tool box and into the bed of my truck. The antenna survived the ordeal but the solder joint in the magnetic base broke under the strain.

This antenna is just too heavy for a single, heavy duty magnetic mount at highway speeds, especially in wind gusts. If you do manage to get it secured sufficiently, you will still probably have to "loctite" the fold over hinge.

A shorter, lighter antenna with a couple less dB gain is far superior to a high gain antenna that has folded over horizontal or is laying broken in the back of your truck or the highway, no?

Performs & the price is right Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I originally had a Diamond SG7900A with a Diamond K600M mount. My son always has run the MFJ1432 and MFJ-345 mount. After thieves stole both the Diamond & MFJ antennas we replaced them only with MFJ1432's. (The SG7900A was almost $140) This was well over three years ago. I personally switch between the MFJ-345 & Diamond K600 mounts but always use the same MFJ1432. Neither has failed me in the least. The adverse weather conditions here in the Chicagoland area also give an antenna a real workout. Our antennas are mounted on the rear deck of a station wagon & the other on a trunk lip of a sedan. Antennas are straight as arrows. I would definitely purchase this antenna again. Just wish there was a security feature to prevent folks from removing them. UHF/VHF mobile to mobile is great even at 10W and there's never a dropped QSO. A solid product.

Great antenna! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I purchased my MFJ-1432 at a hamfest last Sept. I mounted mine on my 02 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, on a tri mag mount. I have found it is comparable to the HyGain antenna. I've been able to kick repeaters from over 40 miles away. I've been complimented on my audio and have receive great signal reports. I would have no problem purchasing another MFJ-1432. Absolutely a winner for me. I have had several mobile antennas the last being the Diamond HV-7A, which is an outstanding antenna, but for strictly V/U work it can't be beat.
