Elegant, simple, powerful Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
To sum up UISS in a few sentences isn't quite fair. Simply put, it is an all-around good program for use with terrestrial APRS, as well as APRS/Packet for use with the ISS, NO-44/PCSAT, and NO-61/ANDE. Its clean uncluttered and powerful interface make digipeating through these satellites as easy as using ANY other soundcard-based digital package. One morning in particular, PCSAT was passing over in its characteristic slow, lumbering way. I had plenty of time to actually have a keyboard-to-keyboard "chat" with a K9 station. This is accomplished by doing nothing more than typing your message in the colored box, and hitting either F5/F6/F7. It will send either simple text, APRS position, and APRS messaging. For earth networks, it is fully compatible, and shows up when going to Findu, etc. Likewise, it receives all traffic.

It also works in conjunction with other software. I PREFER UISS< but enjoy having REAL-TIME mapping. (Sure, UISS has an add-on module, but it is lousy...to be truthful) For mapping, I simply start the 16 or 32 bit version of UI-View, and they work side by side with no complaints.

Overall, it is my favorite APRS program that I have tried...works great locally...works AWESOME on the satellites.

Makes packet through the space station fun and easy! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is an easy to use, and fairly easy to set-up, packet program designed for packet communication through the International Space Station. It can also be used for APRS (has an add-on basic mapping package) and even a DX Cluster. It requires the AGWPE Packet Engine so you can use it with a sound card. Since I prefer hardware packet TNCs, My only complaint is that you still have to use the AGWPE to communicate between the program and the TNC. No big deal, but an extra step. Great freeware program. If you make a donation to AMSAT you can get a key from ON6MU to open up more features not included in the basic freeware program. But I can tell you the freeware program has plenty of features. Download it and start using the ISS digi!
