best of the bunch Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Nice solution to elevate the 817. Like most I've tried different ways to home-brew something. Once you get over the $20.00 U.S. (plus $7.00 shipping) for a bit of stainless steel and a few nylon washers, you will find that the expense is soon forgotten. They work, period. Also it's nice to get something that's not made in China. My only gripe is when tilted all the way up the rear antenna socket is to close to the table to be used and the supplied feet don't raise it enough, even with a 90 degree adapter. My solution was to buy four, 1/4 inch tall rubber feet (self sticking) and use them instead, now I can use a normal patch cord or coax with room to spare. That's all that's needed to clear the rear connector. That's why I rated it a 4, but some may think it's not a big deal and may use the front antenna socket. All and all the best elevating system out there. cheers.
NEW EDIT: 2022.
I sold the 817nd and the installed peg legs and almost immediately regretted it, so last summer I bought a FT-818nd before they ceased production like the IC-706mkIIg, (another one I regret selling). When I went to buy another set of peg legs for the 818nd I was dismayed to see they too had ceased production. I put a "want" ad out as a long shot for another set for my 818nd. I thought I'd be lucky if I found just the legs sans the screws and washers needed and I'd have to source them separately. A ham on the east coast had a brand new, in the original package, an unused set, to sell. I paid $30.00 and they arrived in a few days. I was very lucky to find them and they are just as an elegant solution as I remembered. I've always been a bit surprised that Yaesu didn't acquire whatever rights needed to make them and include them as original equipment and as an accessory item for earlier versions. I'd buy another set if I ever see another set for sale.

Really works well! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The FT-818 is a great little rig, but it is low. This is an elegant soulution - easy to install and out of the way when needed! It makes it much easier to reach the small tuning knob and to see the screen.

Best "Tilt" solution for FT-817 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Of all of the gadgets on the market to change the viewing angle of the face of the FT-817, I believe the Peg Leg is the best. It is an eloquent, affordable and simple solution. Best of all it is most compact for portable operation. Being attached to the radio eliminates another piece of gear to carry around. An added benefit is that the company, Palm Radio, provides great customer support.

A great and simple accessory Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Purchased locally and installed just this evening. All parts were present; easy-to-follow pictorial instructions. They fit the rig perfectly and really increase the usability of the '817. The hardest part was getting Yaesu's factory screws out, but that's another story! ;-) Would definitely recommend to all '817 users.

Great idea for the 817ND Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
As any 817 owner will concede, you need to be able to elevate the rig at times. So I ordered the Peg Legs and installed them in no time flat. Really helps. Don't leave home without it.

Great little invention. Very well thought out. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the most effective.

I highly recommend.

Should have been supplied by Yaesu. Just makes the radio much easier to use. Love it

A must for every FT-817 user Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
It is simple, very useful and company's reply was quick. If you have FT-817(ND) than you need this gem. You can't go wrong.

Elegance in simplicity Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Of all the radios that don't come with a flip-down bail, the 817 SHOULD HAVE! $19.95, no shipping charge, came in an envelope from Morse Express in few days.

5 min. understanding the parts (and sizes of the washers involved), 5 minutes assembling. Works completely as advertised, no drama. Whether in a go-bag on your shoulder tucked out of the way, or on a picnic table at field day, should just be part of the 817.

Inventor should take a page from Bill Gates' playbook (DOS) and let Yaesu give him some money per unit & Yaesu should put it on every 817 that goes out the door.
