Great Tower & Great Price.......!!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
i got this tower free from wb0y (danny) in loveland colorado. just for helping him take it and a bunch of other towers down. it was up at his house in loveland for 30 years. before that it was up in waldon, colorado for 25 years! put it up here in estes park at several heights, both times attached to side of the house.
we get MAJOR wind up here ALL winter. in fact right now we are in a two day, 80 mph "high wind warning"
this is very typical. i tied it off at the house and did not have to worry about it. it was last at about 48". (i chopped off the tapered section and made a custom top thrust bearing plate.)
i took it down for lightning concerns, sold it, and just bought it back!!! yeah.......i still have the base in the ground and it will be a sinch to put back up. i just also got a 80' ssv freestanding tower BUT will put the american back up. if its not all bent up or rusted through, get one, prices are dirt cheap for these.
thanks and love the good ol' American.

p.s. like the other reviews said, much easier than climbing on rohn...

American Tower Company has been in business since 1953.I worked on these towers years ago when I serviced consumer electronics. They are good quality but don't try installing an 80 meter mono bander at 70'!!
What is great about working on the tower is that the cross members are horizontal,so its much easier to climb and stand on the tower, just make sure you are wearing boots with arch supports.
http://www.amertower.com KA8URX I think Rohn 25 accessories will fit this tower.

P.S. you can order POWDER COATED FINISH !!

Great Tower Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Easy to climb if you can handle the 2 foot span between crossmembers. I have three of these up freestanding at 30 feet and 40 feet. They have withstood 70 mph wind no problem (you usage may vary).

Great! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This particular tower was and still is sold by some Radio Shack dealers. Im sure you all have seen them up everywere. They are commonly used to support TV antennas and some CB antennas and come in 10' sections with the top section having a tapered cone.
I have one that is still up located at my folkses that still supports an Avanti moonraker 4 CB beam up at 40' (no longer used anymore) with a ham 4 rotor. The whole works has been up 11 years and it has been through all sorts of bad weather and winds. The tower is guyed in 3 spots and is concreted in the ground 3'x 3'x 3'. great tower! Who knows someday ill take it down and use it again as a ham tower!!
