THIS ANTENNA WOULD WANT TO BE CUT UP INTO SMALL PIECES ! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
THIS ANTENNA OR I MEAN DUMMY LOAD ! IS PURE RUBBISH STAY AWAY BY ALL COSTS! AND GOT NO SUPORT FROM THE DEALER OR CUSHCRAFT AND EVEN WROTE TO CUSHCRART DIRECT AND DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE MANNORS TO EVEN REPLY.
THE DAY THE ARIEL ARRIVED OPENED THE BOX AND A BOX OF TRAPS I HAD FIRST GO, GOT THE AIREIL 2 WEEKS LATER AND I SHOULD OF KEPTED THE TRAPS INSTEAD, AT LEAST I COULD MAYBE HAVE BUILT A PROPER ANTENNA WOULD OF BEEN SOMETHING IF WAS QRV WITH BOX OF RUBBISH !
EVEN WRITING THIS REVIEW IS BRINGING BACK BAD MEMORIES.THE SICK THING IS CUSHCRAFT CONTACTED THE DEALER AFTER GETTING MY LETTER BUT NOT ME ! SO STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOURSELF 400 POUNDS OR BETTER STILL BURN IT INSTEAD YOU WILL HAVE BETER SATISFACTION !

Excellent HF Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Used my R7 for nine years in the Seattle area. The antenna is mounted on the side of the house about 25' high. No problems at all during this period. Used with IC 756, Yaesu FT-817 and Norcal 40. Excellent for DX and contesting. Worked 175 countries with this antenna. Works well both on CW and SSB with an MFJ-948 tuner. Handles high wind load relatively easily. Would be hard to switch to a tribander after all these years.

R3 was better Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Had Chchcraft R3 for 2 years, than R5 and 3 yrs had R7... R3 was the best - has remote capacitor
tuning flat 1:1 SWR across all 3 bands...wish I had R4 with 2 more bands....Operating QRP I worked Europe running One Watt all 7 bands! But it was weather sensitive and had to replace toroid
coil by manufacturer due to voltage breakdown running 500w in 40 mtrs...Sold R7 and keeping R3

rounded out antenna. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used the R7 antenna for 6 years and purchased second hand. Mounted 8 feet above ground as recommended. Every signal I heard I worked. Raised the R7 up to 30 feet and found no difference in signal reports. I have never had any problem to get the vswr down well within the limits of below 1.5/1 on all bands. The only antenna that out performed the R7 on dx was my reference antenna, the Hustler 5btv at 14 feet above ground and 16 33 foot radials. I highly recommend the purchase and use of the R7 whether you are limited by space area or not as it is a great performing antenna.

Does The Job Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I bought my R-7 used from a ham in Texas. Installed it as per instructions with the base 8 ft above the ground. It sits in what was a cornfield about 180' ft behind the house. I operate mostly QRP and have had good results, even on 40M. It does not compare with a dipole high in the air or any type of beam. I use it with an LDG tuner. If you can't get something high into the air then the R-7 might be a good choice. I would suggest guying it with light dacron cord even though CC says it doesn't need them.

works good in small areas Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Had a R-7 since l994,have used it successful since them, construction is excellent, very easy to assemble, so much better than the Gap eagle I helped my father-in law install. My wife, KK5FX recently got her DXCC with a R-7, FT-990, on 100 watts. We have a small lot 60x120 so no room for much of a antenna farm. Would recommend it to anyone.

Good Spotter Time Owned: more than 12 months.
It is a great spotter antenna. I have used it and have placed in most contest. I use it mainly to look where the beams are not. In DE I was always 59. It made it to VO2WL with us in 98 for CQWW and was the antenna for 40 meters. No complaints but be sure you understand it before you complain about it!

There are better..... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had this antenna for approx. 5 1/2 years. In it's time it has weathered well, but has never been a good performer beyond the 20 meter band. Since I bought this antenna and had in in a side by side compairson with a GAP Titan, the Titan won hands down. The GAP exceeds in every way, right down to the construction. SWR was never where the CushCraft specs said it was. Only 20 meters came close, but anything beyond that was non-resonant. Some would have you believe that the GAP is too good to be true. If it is, at least it resonates in spec! Verticals are verticals and some work better than others. 73 de Kirk AB8BC

it's a good prefromer Time Owned: unknown months.
CushcraftR7 I own it for 6 years. It does job and that's about it. I hooked up an antenna tuner Model MFJ-986 and the antenna prefroms much better. If you have a small location R7 is the best antenna.
