Unsolicited great audio reports Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I use this microphone along with a W2IHY 8 band equalizer, on both an Icom IC-7700/PW-1, and a barefoot Yaesu FT-991a. I work a lot of DX with the Icom, and do not resort to processing or extreme equalization for "DX punch"

I regularly get complements from the DX stations on the quality of my audio. I believe, in a pile up, they will often answer the station that does not sound like fingernails on a black board.

I tried several XLR connected mikes at this station, and thus far, my best results are achieved with this Electro Voice, and the dynamic mike in my Sennheiser sports caster head set.

I have several XLR mikes to experiment with. This one seems to pick up the least stray hum in my shack.

You will need some way to get a 3 pin XLR connected mike into your radio. W2IHY equipment has the socket for a 3 pin XLR cable.

Of course, this Electro Voice is a condenser mike, so you will need some source of 48 volt phantom power for this to work. The same stores that sell this mike also sell the phantom power sources.

Outstanding vocal mic Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The RE410 is a handheld condensor microphone which requires 48V phantom power. As expected from a high-end condensor mic, the RE410 has all the characteristic of a good microphone without the dreadfull background noise pick-up and proximity effect as usually encounter with a condensor mic.
With the RE410, you can close talk, back-off an inch or so, even deviate left to right or "wander" around the mic, your audio will still remain at a constant level.
In comparison of this mic to the Shure Beta 58A (which is my "reference standard"), it has a slight richer low end. The mid and high end is about the same as the Beta 58A.
In comparing this mic to the Shure Beta 87A (which is also a condensor type), the low end is not as "boomy".
This is a truly wonderful vocal mic as it makes your voice stand-out, yet still maintain a very well balance of lows and highs.
