Review Summary For : High Sierra "Bullseye" Screwdriver Turns Counter
Reviews: 1MSRP: 110
Description:
Screwdriver positioning system (4.5"x2.5") with backlit LCD display. It counts impulses from a switch/magnet combo added to the Black Hawk motor assembly that lets you reference antenna resonance at any frequency by counting coil turns, and showing a number on the LCD display. It's not a controller...it's an additional device that will work with High Sierra's standard controller or EZ-Tune controllers for Yaesu, Icom, and Kenwood tranceivers.

Not perfect, but suits my needs Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I use this device with a High Sierra HS-1800/PRO 10-80 meter screwdriver in a fixed location. It's supposed to attach a number to a known resonant frequency so that when you move the antenna to another frequency and come back to the original, resonance will still be at that referenced number without having to re-check SWR, or listening for highest noise-floor level (or seeing it on a spectrum scope). Well, it works....sort of. It's not accurate...it can be off 10-15 numbers from the original marking. However, it fills my general needs. Having the screwdriver in the back yard, I can't see its movement from the shack to approximate the position of the coil, or even see if it's moving at all. It's especially useful when going from 40 to 80 meters (a span from the #180's to the #530's on the display). Then I can begin fine-tuning for lowest SWR at a specified frequency...cuts down on guessing the time of coil travel, or watching for the top or bottom end-of-travel light to illuminate. I give it a "4" due its lack of pinpoint accuracy...not a "Bullseye", but OK for my requirements. If anyone has experience with any of the other screwdriver counters on the market (Tarheel, Ameritron, etc.) in regards to their accuracy, I would appreciate an e-mail. 73, Bob,K7JQ. k7jq@att.net
