WORKS GREAT ON WINDOWS 7,10 BUT NOT **11** Time Owned: more than 12 months.
12/30/2022 - Since Window's latest update 22H2, MPR40 will no longer work at all. From first having access violations to now NO boot. Previous tech support was poor to none existent. On the other hand, CW Get has a new, improved version, and all previous versions have always worked with no issues. Because of the lack of support, "I don't give a crap," to patiently waiting for a windows 11 update that has not been forthcoming, I have dropped my rating to "awful." I can only hope that this review will start the process of making MRP40 work on windows 11. Sad that I have to write such a review. Please release a windows 11 version so that I can once again rate your product as "great."

I have been using MPR40 for many years, a great CW reader. However, after upgrading to Windows 11 on a clean install, mpr40 has developed " Access violation at address 0047oD10 in module 'MPR40v62.exe' on the newest version 66 and is unusable. An old version 64 does not have the access violation, but randomly, the computer screen turns white for a split second. I received NO assistance on my issue from Norbert at MPR40. So I am back to using CW Get. Unless Norbert updates his software, I would be leery of purchasing.

UPDATE 6/27/22 MPR40 v66 Not Working with clean new Windows 11 installation.

I spent hours researching and only found that a possible Directx version or Net Frame 4 issues may cause errors.

Microsoft has DirectX legacy versions available for download. I downloaded and installed it. I also checked to verify that the net frame 4 was installed properly. After installing DirectX legacy and verifying net frame installation I reloaded MPR40-v66. My results did not change with having the same error, " Access violation at address 0047oD10 in module 'MPR40v62.exe' At this point, I have exhausted all avenues at my disposal and will continue to use CW Get. My regret is that I paid for both MPR40 and MPR40SDR and now finding that I am unable to use them. I truly wish that Norbet would display some concern and assistance. So my conclusion is still the same, I would be very leery of purchasing MPR40 until updated for Windows 11 is released and verified.

I downloaded and reinstalled MPR40v66 having read the KD2SC post hoping that I had done something wrong causing the error. However, after reinstalling I had the same "Access violation at address 0047oD10 in module 'MPR40v62.exe' occurred. Then I read his post and saw that he "upgraded" rather than doing a "clean install." I can only assume that individuals doing a clean install will have the same issue. So, in conclusion, I would only upgrade to Windows 11 until a fix is found.

Working fine on all Windows Versions Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I recently upgraded a laptop to Windows 11 and the MRP40 works just fine. I have used the program for years and have received excellent support from Norbert. He usually responds to requests within 24 hours.

Great! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have been using CWGet / CWSkimmer for as long as I can remember...CWSkimmer lags a bit in decoding. I mean it will take a split second to see the decoded characters. In the other hand, CWGet is much much better in this respect.

So I downloaded the MRP40 software trial version and started testing it. I paired it with CWGet side to side. MRP40 can pick signals from the mud and decodes the. CWGet just watches MRP40 winning the race.

I had no doubts about what this decoder will do for me later in my contesting. So I paid for the license the same day 6/19/22. Today is 6/22/22, and I am still to get the license yet. I did receive an automatic email reply from Norbert upon my requesting an update of the purchase. He is not back until July 2nd.

No biggie here I can wait.

My intriguing question, after reading some reviews, is about the license. I read that one has to request a new one every time there is a change on the PC end. That to me is not too nice. I use other software for which I have paid for licenses and they are kept in a secure place in my vault. I don't need to contact anyone for them whenever I change PC. What happens if the worst happens?

Excellent CW Decoder Time Owned: more than 12 months.
10th April2021 adding:
Since years it´s still my favorite decoder. It won all comparisons.
And the service from Norbert is excellent. He replies emails immediately and he is always a great help.
Perfect !!
———————————

I had tried it now many month and compared it with the "competitors". For me it is the best cw decoder for weak cw signals in a bunch of noise and QSB. And this is essential. Strong and stable cw signal are no problem for all programms.

I use it daily and therefore I am willing to pay for it. It is not cheap......but it is worth its price.
The support from the programmer is very good. I didn´t wait longer than one day or shorter for a response.

I use it only for decoding. For sending I use CWTYPE. I find it more comportable and user friendly for sending but this is, as always, a matter of taste.

73!

Extreme good Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Having worked with MRP40 using the sound card for a long time, it really fulfills my need. At first I wondered why many OPs decoded my last letter in CS as 's' in stead of 'h'. Doing a little investigation, which included a extra RX with storage scope connected, I found out that MRP40 dekeyed the TX before the last dot was sent at speed higher than 22 wpm. I solved the problem by using VOX as well as manual keying. But apart from this it works great.

Best CW Program on the Market Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I think it's the best CW program on the market. Yes it cost $63 but things that work are not free. I think some of the low reviews had more to do with the operator than the program. You still have to know how to use the filtering in your radio just like fist & ear CW. I found the program can copy sold with zero s-meter reading and lower if you know how to use your radio filters. You can use freeware, lol or pay for something that works.

IMPRESSED SO FAR! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Been looking for years for a program to send Morse from a keyboard, have found lots that receive, but not many that TX.
Downloaded the free trial version two days ago, and am really enjoying playing, I know its not real CW,in the eyes of the stalwarts, but its got me interested, and learning,I still use a key to send odd bits, and hope to improve my speed as well?
Will I buy the full version after 30 days, only time will tell ?

Great Program and Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I originally reviewed this product very positively in April 2011. It has been of great value to me since then in many ways, not the least of which has been to monitor my own code sending.Recently I experienced computer problems and found I needed to reinstall the software on another computer.

I was able to obtain the new activation codes from Norbert within 24 hours and am very happy with the excellent service I received.

PC change requires new key Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using MRP40 almost from early days. A change in the PC means having to request a new unlock key.
A few weeks ago I had to reinstall Windows10. I requested a new key from Norbert but, despite repeated reminders, my option to run MRP40 as a trial has now expired.
If there is a reason why he is not replying to my requests I would like to know it. I trust he is not ill or worse.

Still filling the CW log Time Owned: more than 12 months.
It is now over 10 years since I first started using MRP40. With a few computer changes and software updates I now find that I am still using the iMac i7 but with OS10 Yosemite, Parallels Desktop 10 and Windows 7 and 8.1. The programme has never faltered and has been a great help in getting me to my DXCC 200 mixed of which 153 are CW.
Norbert continues to give excellent support so the pennies paid in 2004 were definitely well spent.
I am running a 30 day trial of MRP4060 on Windows 10 Technical Preview, again on the iMac i7, and it is faultless. I will wait until the full version of Windows 10 is available before seeking a new registration code from Norbert, but good to know that it will work.
I note a few adverse comments saying "even with a big signal it wasn't reading?" MRP40 works better with low power and noise than clean high signals. Drop the receive power back a bit/lot. A bright red signal is just too high ... in my opinion of over 10 years of use.
Highly recommended for people like me.
