It has its points, but then again... Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Clay Laster, W5ZPV, released this version in 2001 and it was dated as soon as it left the printer. The problem with a book like this is that it contained the "latest" FCC Amateur question pools which is mistake #1; the ARRL and W5YI have been doing these tasks much longer and far better. And dock another point for the absolute howler that permeates the header on EVERY PAGE of Chapter 4 (hint: just look at the top of the right hand pages and ask why McGraw-Hill, the publisher, did not spring for a spellchecker - at least apparently!). Still, the sections on technical matters are worth the effort to check this book out of the library...but NOT worth pulling out your checkbook for! Unless, of course, a new edition comes out that includes chapters on software defined radios and such, while leaving out the question pools and getting the spellcheckers to work (grin)...now THAT would be worth recommending. But this?
