Excellent Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I didn't think Yaesu could top the FT-1500M, but they did! I like the fact that they added the ability to adjust the mic gain on this radio. My other Yaesu's have been described as "a little hot". They took care of that problem on the 1802M. VERY pleased with this one, Yaesu!

Fantastic Rig Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have owned many 2 meter and dual band rigs but the FT-1802M is the best. I have always had trouble with intermod, not with the 1802. I have a long drive to and from work the CW trainer is great for passing the time and improving on my speed. Finally as most have mentioned the price is out of this world for all you get.
GREAT job Yaesu !!!

...and Wx too Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This rig finally has a feature I'd been unable to find for a long time - it can scan through all the NWS weather frequencies listening for the 1050 Hz alert tone, so you don't have to know what Wx channel to "alert" for when you're mobile.

Also I'm now using the computer software to load memories and settings - works great.

First Rig Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The menu is very friendly, but read the book. The features outweigh most FM single band rigs. I was not going to settle for a 2 meter rig. I have a limited income and did my research. I am happy to say that I have a complete(power supply, base antenna and FT 1802M) 2 meter rig for USD$300.00.
This is my second product from Yaesu-Vertex. I also own a VX-150 HT. My only complaint is the rig gets hot in standby. I am only using 25 out of possible 50 watts.
If you have a tight budget and want a reliable product, look into the FT-1802M (US version).

Very good single band 2 meter radio Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I've had my Ft-1802M for about 8 months now and I like it very much. I've also had the FT-2500, Ft-3000, FT-1500 and FT-2800 but the Ft-1802M tops them all. Wonderfully bright display, especially at night, and regular Yaesu depandability. It does run a little hot but that simply means having it in a well-ventilated area. Intermod is almost absent except in the worst conditions.

I've had my FT-1802M for several weeks now and I'm pretty happy with it. If you're used to programming Yaesu radios this is easy. I had a FT-1500 and really hated the anemic display. The FT-1802 has a beautiful display, great for night use in a vehicle and easy on the eyes in a shack. It's priced right and works great. In 1995 I purchased a Yaesu FT-2500 50 watt mobile. It had something like 35-40 memories and cost over $300.00. Radio technology has come a long way.

Great Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have been using this radio for 2 months with no apparent problems. This radio has proven to be one of those rare products that works as advertised with that quality feel that sets it appart from the rest in this price range. The functionality and ease of use is first rate and the manual well written. I would recommend this radio as first choice to anyone who is in pursuit of a 2m mobile radio.

Inexpensive workhorse! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I second a "5" rating on this radio. The price was right at only $159.00 retail. We needed a good solid 2M radio for the XYL's car.

The radio is very well built with no fan, just a solid heat sink. We live up in the Western UP if Michigan and almost all of the repeaters near us are 2 Meters and quite a distance away. We therefore operate on full power most of the time. The radio has had no heat related problems even with long QSO's at full power. (You do however want to make sure you give it some good air space for cooling.

The menu system takes a little getting used to, but a little time with the well written manual takes care of that. I wish there was a PC programmer for the radio, but being so new, I suspect that will come with time.

Audio reports have been excellent and even the internal speaker is adequate for most mobile situations. There are many other nice features like the ability to set a password to lockout unintended use. A morse code drill and practice mode. There is also a digital mode which I have not had a chance to play with. There is no remote head capability so if this is what you need, this isn't the radio for you.

The solid construction of this radio sold me. I was looking for another Yeasu 1500M and this radio is just as well built with many improvements over the 1500M.

If you are looking for an inexpensive and solid 2 Meter radio this one is a real workhorse.

Great rig Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Bought this from Gigparts a few weeks ago and installed it in the car. This rig has gone with me on a few trips and here are my impressions.

Display - Great can be easily seen at most angles.

Programming - Very easy and intuitive.

Audio - Strong solid audio. I haven't received any complaints on the transmit audio

Like other reviewers said it is a very solid built radio.

For the price you can't go wrong with this one.
