What a peice of junk! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After many years of faithful service my years old 140/100 Watt Soldering Gun needed replacement. After searching high and low I was able to find one, (and only one).

I was rebuilding my station and needed something that would solder coax connectors.

My soldering gun arrived by UPS and I thought that everything would be OK. Well was I in for a shock! When I plugged it in a pulled the trigger the light came and the tip started to get warm. After I tined the tip I let the trigger go and the soldering iron stayed on!!

And it kept staying on no matter how many times I clicked the trigger. The only way to turn it off was to actually slam the gun on a surface. This happens everytime I use it. Sometime you pull the trigger and the thing does not come on. (If you have any kind of problem with your hand, you may find this thing hard to use because the trigger has a very hard pull to it). And when it does it come on it does not go off. In fact once you turn it on you can solder with it even with your finger off the trigger. And the longer that I use it the worse the thing gets!

Another problem is that it is made out of cheap plastic rather than the old faithful bakelight. The plastic gets so hot that you have to rest your hand further down the handle becuase if you let your hand rest on the stock you will burn it.

The ony reason that I kept using this soldering gun was because I needed something to do coax connectors, and nothing else was available locally. As soon as I get the last one done, it goes back to Weller for repair, (with a nasty letter).

Boy I've never been so disappointed in a product, especially one with such a long history in my life.

IF YOU CAN POSSIBLY AVOID BUYING A WELLER SOLDERING GUN - DO SO!!!
