Very Accurate Meter Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchased my wattmeter about a year ago. Did an alignment to the power output ranges with my Bird 43 wattmeter, it tracked perfectly to my Bird on all ranges on 2 meters. Very compact, great looking, very easy to use and now very accurate. The meter was made by WELZ along with the YS-60 HF wattmeter. If you can find one at a reasonable price grab it.

Love this meter... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had the Yaesu FS-500 meter for years. I lost track of it for about a year, and lamented greatly over losing it, until I accidentally found it staring me in the face on a shelf in my basement. The only disadvantage to this meter, if you're using it in the shack, and not as a meter to check SWR in a vehicle, which it's great for by the way, is that it does not have provisions for a lighted dial. I now have it in-line with my Yaesu 991A's 144/430Mhz SO-239 connection point on the back of the rig, which runs into a switch for the actual antenna, a Comet GP-1 VHF/UHF antenna, which is installed in my attic. I had initially used an MFJ-864 VHF/UHF meter in the shack to check the SWR through my backup rig on VHF/UHF (Yaesu FT-847), connected to the same antenna, same feed line, the same Comet GP-1 antenna, etc...and it displayed an SWR that was 3:1. When I connected the Yaesu YS-500 meter to my Yaesu FT-991A to check the SWR of the same antenna system, it reflected an SWR of under 1.5:1.

I trust the Yaesu YS-500 meter more than I trust the MFJ-864 meter, even if the MFJ meter is lighted. The MFJ meter has calibration pots on the back of it, so I guess
I need to bring MFJ meter into closer calibration based on the readings I'm getting from the Yaesu FT-500 meter. Both are good meters, but I really favor the Yaesu YS-500. Maybe absence makes the heart grow fonder, LOL!

Find it, Buy it Time Owned: more than 12 months.
If you come across one at a swap, grab it quick. I have the YS-60 as well and these meters are compact and convenient. Both meters work down low enough for QRP if you're pushing 5W. While recent radios have meters built-in, these work well to compare against those meters and of course do the job to answer questions on radios without.

Antenna analyzers are nice, but observing a system with the radio inline is best.

Work great. Look good when stack! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Really enjoy it. I've 3 of those and I did put leds around the meter. Look perfect.

fantastic! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
acquired another one of these meters. I have another one and 2 ys60 meters by yaesu. they don't disappoint. I onstalled lead lighting in mine with powerpole connectors. great meter that sits nicely and is accurate. BETTER THEN MANY NEWER METERS. IF YOU SEE ANY FOR SALE. THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT THESE GEMS!

its too bad yaesu doesn't make this meter any longer.. mine is dated 1989,and I find these meters accurate and very well built.. the meters are beautiful to look at,and the build is robust.. I find them periodically for sale for 50-80 dollars.. they are nicer than many of the newer meters for the same or more money.. these don't disappoint.. if you find one, they are worth every pennie..

Accurate Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought mine new many years ago. Also made some comparison tests with proffesional equipment and it stood its ground.

Power ranges are 4/20/200W

Supurb little meter Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Yaesu hit the mark with this little meter for VHF and UHF. I have had my meter in line for over a year now and that is where it is going to stay.
I use the meter for FM and SSB and it is right on the money. I compared the meter to my Coxial Dynamics meter and there is not a watt worth of difference between the two. The meter is not back lit but I can live with that.
I hated to see Yaesu get out of the meter market because it is hard to find a better meter in todays market for this kind of money. If you see one at a hamfest or on line do not hesitate to jump on it. You will be glad you did.
