Good little rig. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I also built my AT-1 & AC-1 in 1954. I worked WAS on 80 & 40 CW as WN0UBD from Minnesota using an S-38C for receiving. Later I built a plate modulator for AM operation as a General class op & added the VF-1 VFO. I still have the QF-1 Q-Multiplier I built for my S-40A receiver.

My first transmitter Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Kit purchased in 1954 as a novice. Still own it.
There are 3 tubes with the final being a 6L6 at 25 watts input. Crystal or external VFO frequency control. I use the matching Heath VF-1 vfo and AC-1 antenna coupler.
Used it for 2 years into my general license with a screen modulator.
By todays standards it is a antique but to me it is the most valuable radio I own..
