Service Like It Should Be Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I called Matt about an issue I had with an Icom product I own. He diagnosed the repair over the phone, and gave ma a "ballpark" figure to repair it. He told me he had been away for training and it might be 2 to 3 weeks before he could get to it. I sent it to him, and in about 2 weeks he called and gave me a total price, coming in a little under what he had quoted. I received the unit back looking new and working the same way. I would recommend Matt for any Icom repairs you may need done. Thanks Matt.

Outstanding service! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had to send in an Icom 765 with several problems and Matt was excellent about dealing with them. His work was thorough, professional and quite reasonable in price. Despite being busy with other rigs he kept me up to date about the state of the repairs and the result was excellent. I will send any Icoms in need of repairs to Matt in the future.

Top Notch and Fair Cost Time Owned: more than 12 months.
After looking at the flea sized components in my R2500 scanner I hand delivered my radio to Matt.
Very professional and reasonable repair costs. When I got there, after his training seminar in Washington, there were stacks radios dumped off by UPS. Even so, got mine back in just over a month.

Outstanding Service Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Sent my IC-736 to Matt because the tuner would not work. He was out of town (ICOM Wash), and it did take time to get back, but it came back with the tuner fixed, checked out, brought to factory spec's.
Best is the charge was very very reasonable. If I have any more ICOM rigs to be checked out, Matt will get my business.

Fantastic Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I just read a review that does not truly represent Matt Adrian. I have been a customer of Matt Adrian for much longer than he has been with ICOM.He has repaired at least 15 pieces of equipment for me. He has always been perfection in repairs and in the 1 case that it was an intermitant problem he called me to make sure every thing was ok, as he is most interested in customer satisfaction. I used to send my equipment to manufactures for repair and did have a lot of time with stuff on the Brown Truck! However, since I have been using Matt, NO PROBLEM! Know that you can not find a better Tech.!

I just sent my second Icom rig to Matt (last week) and once again he has performed flawlessly! One week turn around time, outstanding communication and very reasonable fees.

Guys, what happened? Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I hate to be the one person on here to give a less than favorable review to SARTS, but I here goes. I purchased a brand new IC-V80 handheld transceiver from Universal Radio the week the transceiver first came out. I noticed almost from the first day that I had the transceiver that it seemed to have a problem. The radio didn't seem to operate very long, even with a fully charged battery. The radio would just shop off abruptly, usually in scan mode. I also noticed that the radio would get very warm after it would abruptly shut down, almost too warm to touch. I shipped the radio off to SARTS in Michigan to be repaired under warranty. I included a detailed description of the problem. I received the radio back with a note stating that the transceiver had been checked for proper current in both receive and transmit. The letter stated that the transceiver didn't get hot in the receive mode or scan mode but draws more current in the scan mode than the receiver squelched mode, and that this is normal. Well, The transceiver wasn't fixed. Same problem, same symptoms as when I shipped the radio off to SARTS the first time. I contacted Icom directly, and they gave me the name of a person to talk to to at the Dayton Hamvention. I showed the transceiver to an Icom rep in Dayton, and the transceiver exibited the same problem when he tested it at the Hamvention. The radio would scan for a short time, abruptly shut down, and then the back of the radio would become very warm. I again contacted Matt Adrian at SARTS and shipped the radio off to Michigan via UPS for a second time. After several weeks, I called Mr Varian and asked about the status of the radio. Mr. Adrian told me that the problem with the radio was apparently a bad battery, and that they would replace the battery and ship it back to me. I explained to Mr. Adrian that I had tested the radio with another AA battery pack, and the problem was still the same. Mr. Adrian agreed to ahead and replace the radio instead of trying to repair it. I called today and talked to Mr. Adrian. Mr. Adrian told me that the radio had been replaced, and that the radio would be shipped back to me. I received the new radio today via UPS, and all appears to be well now. While I am happy that I have new radio to replace the one I purchased that had a defect, I am somewhat puzzled that SARTS wasn't able to diagnose and repair the radio the first time. I have no idea what all was checked out on the radio the first time I shipped it off to SARTS, or how much time was spent diagnosing the problem. It is kind of funny to me how SARTS was unavle to replicate the problem, however I wa able to replicate it every time when I had it. Again, I'm not sure what all what checked out on the radio or how much time was spent diagnosing the problem. While SARTS did ultimately do the right thing and replace the radio, I don't know that I would ship them another radio to be repaired. I have always been an Icom fan, but this episode with the IC-V80 has left a bad taste in my mouth for both Icom gear and SARTS repair service. Why was the problem not fixed the the first time? I understand that it is a new radio, but if it couldn't be fixed, why not just contatc me and offer a replacement without me having to go through the trouble of shipping it back to SARTS a second time? I would love to talk to someone from SARTS if they read this and have an answer for me. I usually send all of my Icom gear to MTS repair in Washington State, as Scott Malcolm always does a good job. The only reason why I didn't seen the IC-V80 off to him him is that he doesn't do warranty repairs on Icom equipment. I even contacted Scott via e-mail and told him about the problem I was having and he offered a few suggestions as to what the problem might be. I wish I could recommend SARTS, but why wasn't my radio fixed or replaced the first time? Can you understand why this has been a frustrating experience for me?

Excellent Service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had a damaged RJ-45 socket on my IC-2820. Matt replaced the socket and a shorted resistor with very quick turnaround. He called me to explain what he had found and to let me know when it would arrive. The cost was much less than I had anticipated. What more can you ask?

SUPER SERVICE Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I sent Matt my icom w32a on June 2, and got it back June 14. He repaired a broken tuning shaft which had snapped after I tried to straighten it out. His prices are really good and the turnaround was very quick. I highly recommend Matt's service. He is quick to answer the phone and emails, and does craftsmanship work.
